Astilleros Zamakona S.A, belonging to our group Zamakona Yards has signed a contract with the owner ESVAGT A.S, a company belonging to the multinational Danish AP Møller-Mærsk.

The vessel will be delivered in the 2nd quarter of 2017 and will have the design and engineering of Havyard Design & Solutions A.S in cooperation with the ship-owner himself and our shipyard. It aims to make the change of crews in emergency assistance to offshore oil platforms, support for the maintenance operations of wind offshore facilities, etc. With 88,40 meters length by 15 meters beam, it will have diesel electric propulsion of last generation that ensures a reduction in fuel consumption around 13% compared to conventional propulsion systems. In addition, for the first time on a vessel of this type, a device consisting saving fuel will be installed in an appendix located at the stern that will be called Hull Vane® to reduce other consumption by 5%. It will have the capacity to accommodate the transfer of up to 76 people housed in individual cabins and have a system of telescopic davits for launching boats working on both sides of the ship.

This is not the first time we work with this prestigious customer, which we´ve already built three ships, the latter being the “ESVAGT AURORA” in 2012, which won the “Best Spanish Ship Built in 2012″, awarded by the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Navales de España.

It is important to note that the owner has awarded this contract to Zamakona having had a strong competition with the European Shipyards frontline.

In the words of our President, Mr. Pedro Garaygordóbil: “The construction of this new vessel meets the need of Esvagt to have in its fleet a ship of this nature and serves to strengthen the relationship Zamakonahas with this owner that´s been last for more than 10 years. Astilleros Zamakona, S.A ensuresfrom this contract the workload of our shipyard until 2017 and confirms the confidence that our brand deserves among the largest offshore vessel owners operating in the North Sea. “

The order will bring a workload of 350,000 hours, or what is the same, guaranteed employment for two years for the company itself and for the auxiliary industry that works with it.

Astilleros Zamakona S.A has an extensive list of references on offshore fishing vessels, towing, passage, etc., and it is at the forefront of European shipbuilding.

The Zamakona Yards group also has facilities in Pasaia and Las Palmas De Gran Canaria.
