China, Russia, Sign Maritime Navigation & Safety MOU

The Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation have signed a MOU on navigational safety and marine environment protection in Beijing.

Both sides reached a consensus on a comprehensive cooperation of maritime safety, marine environment protection, port state control, maritime search and rescue, personnel exchange and training and information exchange.

Since the 11th conference in 2007 with the support of the Ministry of Transport of China and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Chinese and Russian maritime authorities conducted several rounds of consultations on the MOU and have now finally confirmed the cooperation framework and cooperation fields.

The implementation of this MOU will promote the signing of a Sino-Russian border river MOU and lay a solid foundation to jointly safeguard Sino-Russian border river waters safety.

The MOU was signed by Yang Chuantang, the Minister of Transport and Sokolov, the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation. At the same time, Zhai Jiugang, Deputy Director of China MSA conducted talks with related departments from Russia and also attended the signing ceremony.
