The Marine Propulsion Course this autumn is almost sold out. In this course you will be trained to understand the specific characteristics of ships, engines, transmission systems, electrical systems and propulsors and what to look for when they are matched, says Christina Syropoulos at 'Netherlands Maritime Technology.

  •     Module 1: Propulsion Plant Concepts and Basic Ship Hydrodynamics

  •     Module 2: Marine Propulsors Characteristics
(9-10 October
  •     Module 3: Diesel Engines and Gas Turbines Characteristics
(30-31 October)
  •     exercises.
  •     Module 4: Electrical Drives Characteristics
(20-21 November)
  •     Module 5: Matching Propulsion Engine and Propulsor
(11-12 December) This module uses the knowledge gained in previous modules to discuss the basic matching problem and introduces concepts such as sea margin, engine margin and light running margin. The transformation of a ship’s resistance curve to the load curve, as experienced by the propulsion engines, is also discussed.
