Northrop Grumman Names Williams Sector VP

Northrop Grumman Corporation has appointed Dave Williams sector vice president of engineering for its Ship Systems sector.

Williams joined Northrop Grumman Ship Systems in 1988. He has held positions with increasing levels of responsibility, including section manager of Marine Technical, chief marine engineer, and technical director of DD 21 Gold Team. He served as vice president of Programs and Producibility within the Engineering organization prior to this new assignment. Williams has participated in the design and construction of various ship classes including LHD, SA'AR 5, and DDG. Williams previously served as chief engineer of Lockheed Shipbuilding for the second source design and construction of the Landing Craft Air Cushion. Other positions include chief engineer and general manager of Janoush Marine and design and development engineer for Sperry Vickers Marine Hydraulics.

Williams joined then-Ingalls Shipbuilding (now Northrop Grumman Ship Systems) in 1973 after earning a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University in mechanical engineering. At Ingalls, he participated in the design and construction of the DD963, LHA 1, and CG 47 class ships.
