SENER Opens Busan Office

SENER recently opened a new office in Busan to provide technical support to its FORAN customer base in South Korea and neighboring countries. Located at the Centum IS Tower, a landmark building in Busan’s beachside Haeundae district, the new SENER office is staffed by a team of naval architects, including (pictured from right) Country Manager Mun-Seob Cho, Technical Manager Doo-Jin Lee and Consultants Min-Bong Park and Yeong-Ho Kim.

This new office marks a major step forward in the company’s strategy to boost its marine systems business in the Asia Pacific as it enters the well-established Korean shipbuilding market. Korea is home to 6 of the world’s 10 largest shipyards and over 100 smaller ones. Approximately 80% of Korean shipyards have been using 3D CAD systems – about 20,000 licenses – for designing their ships.

Many Korean shipbuilders and design subcontractors are expected to replace their CAD systems in the near future. SENER Korea is being set up to better respond the increasing demand for knowledge and services of FORAN and to most efficiently convey to SENER headquarters the functional requirements of local shipbuilders.
