Success for Cosalt Offshore

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

November 9, 2011

Cosalt Offshore, a provider of lifting integrity management solutions and lifeboat and maritime services to the oil & gas and maritime industries, has achieved a milestone endorsement from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The company, which provides lifeboat services for several leading North Sea operators, has been approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency to provide essential Inspection & testing to the Maritime industry. It follows a major audit and inspection of the company's procedures, competence and in-house expertise, as well as the quality of reporting and documentation. Rod Buchan, chief executive of Cosalt Offshore, said: “We have developed and expanded the maritime division in Aberdeen and now have a team of competent, multi-skilled technicians working both on and offshore.

Securing status as a MCA-approved independent lifeboat servicing and testing organisation (ILSTO) takes our work to the next level and will ensure we can continue to grow the business. It adds additional opportunities to enhance our service to the maritime industry and allows vessel owners and operators additional choice in selecting service providers.

“In addition to supplying products and providing servicing and testing, our in-house experts are trusted by our customers to help guide them through current and impending legislation to ensure they comply with regulatory matters.’’ In recent months, Cosalt Offshore has provided a range of custom-built lifeboats designed to comply with the latest legislative requirements. The company has also completed platform survey work to ensure HSE guidelines are being met. In addition, Cosalt Offshore provides lifeboat inspection testing and maintenance services under long-term agreements covering a number of assets.

Ian Drummond, Customer Relations Manager, said: “Cosalt Offshore offers an exceptional service in terms of the lifeboats we supply - by supplying our own brand of new lifeboats direct from our own manufacturing base, we ensure they are a cost-effective option and have all the necessary class approvals in place and comply with the latest legislation.

“The core of our work at Cosalt Offshore is providing the best possible customer support and advice to our clients, which involves assisting them on matters such as maintenance, inspection, testing, design & build of lifeboats and on specialist subjects such as the HSE ‘Big Person in Lifeboats’ directive. These areas are where we work closely with our clients to achieve the safest and most economical solutions to meet their operational requirements offshore.’’

It is the latest prestigious industry accolade for Cosalt Offshore which already has ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards testifying to the company’s strong environmental performance, as well as OHSAS 18001, the internationally-recognised assessment awarded to companies who take stringent steps to protect their workforce and actively promote health & safety in the workplace. Cosalt Offshore has a pan-North Sea network of nearly 300 personnel based in Aberdeen and its operations at Stavanger. Turnover in the last financial year rose to £16.4million from £14.6million in 2010.

The company specialises in the management of client equipment and services, specialist lifting planning and industry compliance and the portfolio of services includes supply, hire, examination and repair of lifting equipment, tooling and consumables, supply and servicing of lifeboats and offshore examination and test services.
