U.S. Customs agents seized 6,310 lbs. (2,860 kg) of marijuana from a Panamian-flagged cargo ship carrying medical supplies and machinery into the Port of Miami, agency officials said on Thursday.
Federal agents found the marijuana, valued at about $6 million wholesale, stashed in 111 white plastic bags stacked in the rear of a cargo container on the ship late on Tuesday, a Customs spokeswoman said.
The vessel had stopped in Jamaica before heading to Miami from Colon, Panama, the spokeswoman said.
No one was charged in connection with the seizure, which was the agency's largest this year at the seaport.
