Larson Debuts Escape Line of Pontoon Boats
Larson Boat Group (LBG) launched a new line of pontoon boats, Escape by Larson. "As an industry leader and market innovator for more than 100-years, we knew that for our next 100-years it was time to change what a pontoon boat has originally been thought of – two round cylinders on a flat deck and some seating with an outboard engine," said Rob Parmentier President and CEO of Larson Boat Group.
The difference starts at the "toons." Traditional pontoons have round toons, that plow through the water. The Larson Escape "toons" plane through the water. This is accomplished by the exclusive TTT (tapered tube technology) pontoons. Constructed of heavy duty, aluminum the individual pontoons are welded together to create a running surface similar to that of a small runabout – reverse chines for lift, deadrise for stability, outside hull chamfer for smooth cornering. "It is this running surface that allows for incredible performance, cornering and a sheer thrill out on the water," commented Ron Sahr, Director of Engineering at Larson Boat Group.
The pontoon is designed with a 30" wide top cap span to create a solid deck mounting surface resulting in eliminating the need for secondary bracing. Sahr added, "With the increased performance and running characteristics to a traditional v-bottom boat, we too had to improve the racking or flexing from the deck to the pontoons." Therefore, additional strength is created with an internal stringer system and five internal cross bulkheads per tube.
The differences between Larson Escapes and the "traditional" pontoons continue above the water line as well. The first thing, a person will notice are the boats styled lines. Like a traditional fiberglass boats using a sheer line to create a characteristic profile shape, the Larson Escape does that as well using a combination of fiberglass and metal. "The combination creates a very stylized and unique looking pontoon boat that very much stands out on the water" said Parmentier. Integrated into the fiberglass bow corners the Larson Escape incorporates standard LED docking lights, resembling the look of a sports car.
As you walk through the Larson Escape, additional stylized features are quick to catch your eye – standard padded interior fencing, standard contoured bimini-top and boot with stainless-steel quick release mounts, raised helm station and four access points for boarding and disembarking.
Options are plentiful on the Larson Escapes to meet the demands and needs of their owners. Whether an industry first electric actuated pop-up head with refreshment center (when in the down position), multiple seating options and configurations or engines, the Larson Escape is set to change the concept of what a pontoon boat should be.
The Larson Escape product line is made of three models – 21', 23' and 25' lengths in both twin and triple tube configurations.
"We are excited to introduce and launch what is sure to become the next standard in pontoon technology and customer expectations when purchasing a pontoon for our next 100-years of continued success," concluded Parmentier.
