AVEVA Catalogue Manager enables the consistent and accurate generation of complete catalogue and specification data

New addition to the AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management product family offers fast, multi-disciplinary creation and maintenance of accurate Plant and Marine catalogue information.

AVEVA has  announced the launch of AVEVA Catalogue Manager, a ground-breaking new product set, to save significant man-hours in large capital projects through the rapid, streamlined generation of accurate and consistent part numbers, component specifications and bulk material catalogues.

AVEVA Catalogue Manager’s unique capabilities offer considerable benefits in the management of engineering materials and resources. Whereas its nearest competitors are mainly limited to piping, AVEVA Catalogue Manager is truly multidiscipline, allowing engineers to globally manage complex specifications across all material categories. Data can be consistently controlled across a number of systems, including engineering, design, materials management and procurement, to improve information governance and project profitability.

“The cataloguing and project selection of bulk material is a complex, critical-path process,” says Derek Middlemas, COO and Head of Enterprise Solutions, AVEVA.  “If not structured and managed effectively, it leads to poor project performance and higher material costs.  We are dedicated to creating solutions for our customers that reduce project risk, increase efficiency and improve project quality. Complete control over the digital information asset is vital, and this new product provides a logical first step for customers deploying an enterprise-wide resource management solution.”

AVEVA Catalogue Manager allows Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors (EPCs) to standardise their engineering information, and Owner Operators to consolidate the use of common components across multiple assets within their own corporate catalogue. Shipbuilders expanding into offshore and plant construction projects can also benefit from AVEVA Catalogue Manager’s capabilities.

“Previously, a full list of reference data needed to be produced before catalogue creation could begin, a process that could take six to nine months to complete,” continues Mr. Middlemas. “Some vendors provided a ‘standard database’ – a large directory of reference data items – but often two thirds of the data would be irrelevant to the customer and the remaining third would only get them halfway to their goal. AVEVA Catalogue Manager removes this bottleneck by enabling the parallel creation of the catalogue alongside the reference data, delivering immediate benefits.”

In addition to flexible integration options for third-party design applications, AVEVA Catalogue Manager integrates out of the box with AVEVA PDMS and the new AVEVA Everything3D design tools. This enables generated component codes to be mapped to design characteristics, further shortening the creation of specifications and other associated information in the Design phase, all under full revision control.

Requiring only a fraction of the user training of competitor products and typically half the usual time to create a specification, AVEVA’s Catalogue Manager will save significant time and effort.

AVEVA Catalogue Manager’s in-built flexibility enables it to be deployed as a stand-alone product, integrated into an AVEVA or third-party design environment, or as a part of the fully integrated AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management solution. It can be used at project, regional or global enterprise level.

AVEVA Enterprise Resource Management provides a completely integrated planning, materials and construction management solution to enable greater project efficiency and profitability.
