Recently, Radio Holland received the order to renew the complete IT infrastructure for the JB-115 barge of Jack-Up Barge.

The order includes design, installation and commissioning of an IT network. The JB-115 is an existing platform which has an IT structure on board, that is no longer Future Proof.

Segmented network
The JB-115 operates as a “hotel-at-sea” with fixed accommodation up to 110 Persons on Board and is often stationed at wind energy projects. Next to providing hotel accommodation the JB-115 also provides operational support at sea, with a Crane of 200 tons and a boom length up to 90 meters, a Jacking System, Mooring System and a Helideck. The order for the JB-115 includes the new design and installation of the network with all necessary components and network security. Radio Holland supplies the servers and computers and takes care of renewal of the telephone exchange. The network will be ‘segmented’ so that barge, crew and customers, who rent the platform, have a separated and secure network. JB-115 is operational in Europe, mostly in the North Sea.

Patrick van ‘t Zelfde, Procurement Manager Jack-Up Barge Operations BV says: “The renewal of the IT structure on board of the JB-115 fits perfectly in the new developed Jack-Up Barge connectivity concept. Quite unique, we can provide high speed internet on board of all our barges when we are on the job location. The new IT structure enables and ensures safe and fast internet on board, which we can offer to our customers for a reasonable price. The choice for Radio Holland with their expertise and reliable service was a logical step forward.”

24/7 Support
For the Jack-Up Barges JB-117 (built 2012) and JB-118 (built 2013) Radio Holland already provided the complete IT infrastructure, as well as Communication, Entertainment and other NavCom Equipment.  After the installation, Radio Holland provides 24/7 remote support for both Jack-Up Barges, keeping the network and computers working in good order. Recently, Radio Holland was also requested to take over the support of the IT and communication equipment on board the JB-114 platform. JB-114 and JB-118 are located and operational close to Abu Dhabi. JB-117 is operational in Europe.

Other IT on-board contracts
Radio Holland, from its expertise in NavCom, has built up a specialized know-how in IT projects. Amongst others Radio Holland has been commissioned to organize and provide the complete IT infrastructure on the newbuild state-of-the-art Antarctic Supply Research Vessel (ASRV) for the Australian Antarctic Division, built at Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding in Vlissingen. In addition, RHNL has recently been awarded the contract for renewal and replacement of the complete IT network on board a megayacht.
