ABS Registered Fleet Surpasses 200-Million Gross Tons
Classification society ABS announce that its registered fleet has surpassed 200 million gross tons. Approximately 12,000 vessels representing 105 flag States currently are registered with ABS.
"This important milestone reflects our commitment to providing best-in-class service to the marine and offshore industries," said ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki. "Over the past decade, we have made strategic investments in research and technology, workforce development and training programs in order to meet the evolving needs of our client's worldwide."
Since 2000, ABS has doubled the tonnage of its registered fleet; a key factor in the expansion has been the society's leadership position in the new vessel orderbook. "The success of ABS is really a testament to the industries we serve," said Wiernicki. "We are proud to work alongside some of the very best in the marine and offshore industries. It is that spirit of cooperation that allows ABS to continue to be a leader in the classification industry."
