Requirement for pilot platforms & shelters - Panama Canal

ACP Navigation Regulations, Article 64 and its Annex, state that vessels with a length of 900 feet (274.32m) overall or more must provide suitable platforms and shelters for assisting pilots.

 
Under current operating practices, vessels with a length of 700 feet (213.36m) overall or more, and a beam 100 feet (30.48m) or more, not in compliance with Panama Canal visibility requirements, are assigned an additional assisting pilot for the transit.
 
Therefore, vessels with a length of 900 feet (274.32m) overall or more, and vessels with a length of 700 feet (213.36m) overall or more, and a beam 100
feet (30.48m) or more not in compliance with Panama Canal visibility requirements, must be equipped with pilot platforms and shelters.
