Rickmers-Linie, the Hamburg based global breakbulk, heavylift and project
cargo specialist, has extended the charter parties of three vessels
formerly used on its round-the-world service, Bibi, Leon and Merida, for a
further three years in order to secure availability of tonnage for its
monthly liner service from Europe to the Middle East and India.
All three vessels are now being renamed whilst being drydocked in Shanghai.
Bibi has been renamed Rickmers Dubai while Merida will become Rickmers
Mumbai and Leon will become Rickmers Chennai.
The first sailing of Rickmers Dubai from Hamburg and Antwerp is scheduled to
take place at the beginning of July.
After completion of the new nine-ship fleet for the Round-The-World Pearl
String Service, this step marks the company's commitment to another
important and promising trade for the transportation of breakbulk, heavylift
and project cargoes. The company is confident that with the huge investments
in infrastructure and industry taking place in the Gulf area and in India,
there will be strong demand for such a service catering for
non-containerisable cargo and heavy lifts.
