Crowley Scholarships to Business Students

Crowley continues to recognize exemplary students across the U.S., with Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarships. This month, Steven Hoag, a freshman, and Tirhase Haddis, a sophomore, who are both business majors at the University of Washington, were each awarded $5,000 scholarships based on their academic records and financial need.
 
Hoag has a cumulative grade point average of 3.58 and has made the University of Washington's Deans List. He is an active member of the fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi and in his free time enjoys weightlifting, rugby, current events and history.
 
Haddisis studying business with a concentration in marketing and human resources management. She is the vice president of the Association of Black Business Students and a student ambassador for the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity. She works as a student receptionist at the university's undergraduate admissions office. Her long-term goal is to work in the international non-profit sector to increase access to education and health care.
 
Since 1984, Crowley has provided more than half-a-million dollars in scholarship funding for more than 200 students studying at maritime academies and other select institutions. In 2006, the program expanded to Central America and to date has provided financial assistance to 18 students in that region.
