MHI Licenses Deck Machinery Tech To Imabari Shipbuilding
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) signed an agreement with Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in Imabari, Ehime Prefecture, Japan, under which MHI licenses production and marketing of deck machinery. Through licensing, MHI aims to expand market share of deck machinery based on the company's technology and, at the same time, respond to requests from Imabari, which looks to enhance business through deck machinery production.

Rolls-Royce won a $69m order to design and equip two advanced offshore anchor handling vessels for Norwegian ship owner Farstad Shipping. The UT 731 CD vessels are designed and equipped to handle anchors for oil rigs, tow rigs to location and also serve as supply vessels. They can operate in extreme climatic conditions and ultra deep waters, undertaking precise rig manoeuvring operations in water up to 3,000m deep. They are also equipped for sub sea construction and installation duties.

(MHI) has signed an agreement with Jiangsu Masada Heavy Industries Co, Ltd., in Jiangsu Province, China, under which MHI is to license production and marketing of steering gears and deck machinery based on company technology to Jiangsu Masada. The steering gear and deck machinery technologies to be licensed are for small and medium-sized "under-Panamax* vessels. Hydraulic equipment to drive the machinery will be supplied by MHI.
AOS Power: First RAmpage 4500 Class Support Tug
In December, 2011, the tug AOS Power was delivered to her owners Atlantic Maritime Group, Sharjah, UAE. Designed by Robert Allan Ltd. of Vancouver, Canada and built by GMG Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry Co. Ltd., China, AOS Power is the very first of the RAmpage 4500 class design. This vessel is fully equipped for anchor handling, ship-assist, long distance towing operation, fire-fighting, deck cargo transfers, personnel transfer and other offshore support duties.
Two Additions to Markey Engineering Team
Markey Machinery has announced the addition of two members to the Markey engineering team, Srihari Gowri Shankar and Brian Cox. Both have joined Markey as Design Engineers. Srihari recently graduated from UC Davis with a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. His primary focus was in the area of Dynamics & Control Engineering. Brian graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2011.
