Currently in development for release in 2013 are a mobility platform, a new warehouse and inventory management module, as well as a new Hull Inspection 3D module. The mobility platform supports portable devices including scanners, tablet PCs and smartphones. Features will include alert view notifications and mobile calendaring.
Geo Shipyard Delivers R/V Apalachee
Geo Shipyard Inc, New Iberia, La, delivered the R/V Apalachee, a 64x21x9â, aluminum catamaran for Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory, St Teresa, Florida. Designed by Fyffe Yachts with NC lofting by Eli Ring, VP of Advance Fabricating, both of Kemah, Texas, the 48 passenger T-boat will support a verity of research missions in the Gulf of Mexico. DeJong and Lebet, Inc., Jacksonville, Florida provided construction oversight and plan review.

Nichols Brothers Boat Builders Launch M/V Robert Franco
On March 14, 2013 Nichols Brothers Boat Builders launched the M/V Robert Franco the first of two tractor tugs Nichols has contracted with Harley Marine Services. Nichols began construction of the 100â x 40â Z-drive ship assist tractor tug in May of 2012. On March 14th 2013 Nichols launched the vessel into Holmes Harbor of Whidbey Island from their Freeland Shipyard. The vessel was then towed to Nichols Langley site for final vessel outfitting, dock and sea trials.
HB Rentals Provides 14- and 15- Building Packages for Mexico Projects
Accommodations specialist, HB Rentals, a Superior Energy Services company, installed fourteen A60 â ABS/USCG approved buildings on an ABS-classed offshore construction vessel and provided fifteen buildings to a Lloydâs-classed multipurpose platform supply vessel. Both vessels are located in Mexico, announced HB Rentals Senior Vice President of Global Operations Glenn Aguilar. The temporary building packages include the provision of sleeper units, diners, laundry rooms and locker facilities.

WSS Earns Global ABS Approval for Safety Services
Wilhelmsen Ships Services (WSS) late last month obtained global approval for its safety services from ABS (American Bureau of Shipping). The approval comes after a two year process involving the entire safety services team and covers all safety services worldwide. âAlong with Radio Holland, we are now the only maritime service provider in the world with global approval from ABS, and indeed, the only service provider within the safety sector.
Eco-design VLCC Delivered to AET
AET takes delivery of a second 'eco-design' VLCC that is fully compliant with the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention. Named Eagle Varna, this 320,000dwt vessel is fitted with a range of innovative technology that significantly reduces its fuel consumption and associated emissions. In addition, the new vessel is fitted with the Techcross BWM system that disinfects ballast water using electrolysis technology.

Geo Shipyard Delivers Research Vessel to FSU Coastal Marine Lab
Designed by Fyffe Yachts with NC lofting by Eli Ring, VP of Advance Fabricating, both of Kemah, Texas, the 48 passenger T-boat will support various research functions in the Gulf of Mexico. Power for the new boat is supplied by a pair of John Deere 6135 SFM engines rated at 500 hp at 1900 rpm from Allemand Industries, Harvey, La. The six cylinder engines turn Twin Disc MGX-5114 SC gear boxes, Driveline Service of Portland shafts and ZF 36-inch diameter nybral four-blade propellers.
BIO-UV, is now Type-Approved
BIO-UV went beyond the International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements for Ballast Water Treatment (BWTS).
