China Shipyard Lay Keels Two Fast Rescue Vessels

Keels of two fast coastal rescue vessels laid at the Afai Southern (CIC Group) shipyard in China

The keel laying ceremonies for two coastal fast rescue vessels contracted and built by Afai Southern, BEIHAIJIU 203(ASA033) and DONGHAIJIU 202(ASA034) were held respectively at the outfitting workshop and slipway workshop.

Representatives from Guangzhou Maritime Safety Administration, CCS Guangzhou Branch, Design Company and leaders of Afai Southern witnessed the ceremony.

These two coastal fast rescue vessels are to serve as public welfare vessels for Beihai Rescue & Salvage Bureau and Donghai Rescue & Salvage Bureau, both are of 'north' vessel types, and mainly used for life-saving duties on the coast of China.

These vessels are full aluminum alloy wave-piercing catamarans, with twin main engines and twin waterjets. They have a large deck area, fine navigability, high speed and maneuverability, and with searching and salvaging capacity at night, capable of carrying up to 200 persons. Their design meets the related requirements for a fast vessel under CCS rules.
