In May 2002, Singapore-based Transas Marine Pacific received the first order to supply a multi-purpose simulation complex to Myanmar (Burma). The order came from Eastwind Shipmanagement Pte Ltd, which is setting up its own training center in Myanmar.
Among the Transas simulator equipment to be installed within the next 8 weeks in the new training facilities of Eastwind, there will be the TGS 4100 Ver. 4.1 GMDSS simulator class; networked PC-based Engine Control Room simulator ERS 2000 Ver. 5.4.2 and the Transas ship handling simulator Navi-Trainer Professional 3000. The configuration of the ship handling simulator is a multi-task CBT solution comprising ARPA/radar, visualization/conning and ECDIS workstations.
Eastwind Shipmanagement Pte Ltd is a Japan – USA joint venture that operates over 100 vessels. The company is based in Singapore and is active in providing technical and management support to its vessels. The establishment of a training center in Myanmar fitted with modern simulation equipment from Transas will give Eastwind the advantage of being able to train local crews to the latest international standards right on the spot.
