Royal Boskalis Westminster nv has acquired a substantial order in Singapore for the construction of a large outfall in the Changi area. The order, which is part of the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System project in Singapore, has a contract value of approximately € 135 million. The project will be executed in cooperation with Archirodon from June 2002 on during a period of approximately 36 months. The project entails the laying of three pipelines for the disposal in sea of treated effluent from the new 'Changi Water Reclamation Plant'. The pipelines will be installed onshore and in a trench in the seabed. The work includes dredging of a trench offshore, laying of a rock mattress for the pipelines in sea, installation of the pipelines onshore and offshore and coverage of the pipelines with protective sand and rock. This work draws on specific technical expertise and experience of both Boskalis and Archirodon. In 2001 Boskalis acquired a 30% stake in Archirodon, an international marine contractor. This alliance enables Boskalis to acquire turn key projects for dredging and civil marine construction with a well positioned competitive partner. Besides a stronger market position and a wider product range, the alliance offers both parties synergy in marketing and operations. This project is a good example of the complementary cooperation and operational synergy between Boskalis and Archirodon. Royal Boskalis Westminster nv is an international group with a leading position in the world market for dredging services. Its core activities are the construction and maintenance of ports and waterways, land reclamation, coastal defence and riverbank protection. The company holds ten home market positions in and outside Europe and targets all market segments in the dredging industry. Boskalis has a versatile fleet of over 300 units and operates in over 50 countries across five continents. Boskalis has over 3,000 employees.
