Sundial Wins $6.9M Navy Deal

Sundial Marine Construction & Repair, Inc., Troutdale, Ore., is being awarded a $6,913,986 firm, fixed-price contract for construction of three non-self-propelled fuel oil barges to carry bulk liquid petroleum products for refueling ships of the United States Navy. The barges will be designed and constructed with double hulls in accordance with the Oil Pollution Act of 1990. They will also conform to requirements for ocean service set by the American Bureau of Shipping and United States Coast Guard. This contract includes options, which if exercised, would bring the total cumulative value of the contract to $18,886,414. Work will be performed in Troutdale, Ore., and is expected to be completed by November 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract was competitively procured and advertised on the Internet, with six offers received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (N00024-03-C-2234)
