Wynn to Supply Wipers For RoRos

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

October 29, 2002

Wynn Marine will supply the window wiper systems for three technologically advanced high-speed RoRo vessels currently in production at the Dalian Shipyard in China, and owned by the Swedish shipping company, Stena. The first of the vessels, ‘Stena Foreteller’ is due for delivery to the owner during November 2002, while the remaining two vessels should be delivered soon afterwards. A combination of wiper systems will be used with each vessel being fitted with 25 Type 1762 systems and eight Type C systems. Both come from Wynn’s hard wearing and incredibly efficient Ocean Range of wipers systems, which are aimed at the commercial market. In addition to the wipers systems, Wynn will also install the Series 3000 Network Control System on each vessel. The latest in wiper control systems, the Series 3000 is able to control vast numbers of wipers, and other applications due to it’s connectivity and modular design. According to the manufacturers, he Series 3000 is a fitting choice for these vessels, which have been designed with technology in mind. Highly automated, a crew of just seven is required, and in emergency a single crewmember could control all of the ships systems. High-speed engines push the speed up to around 23 knots and innovative design throughout – not least the use of Wynn wiper systems – makes these ships technological powerhouses. “Wynn wiper systems continue to be chosen by the best shipyards around the world due to the superlative design specifications, excellent build quality and the Wynn dedication to customer service,” comments Tony Parker, Sales Manager at Wynn Marine.
