Atlas has announced a new partnership agreement with Thunderbird business school to become their first global partner in the UK.

The Aberdeen-headquartered firm has joined forces with Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona, globally accredited by AACSB and NCA. This takes Atlas into a new area of Continuing Professional Development with a reputable business school that is well immersed within the global energy sector. Atlas is currently experiencing an unprecedented period of international growth as the demand increases for an effective means of learning and training, vital skills to oil and gas employees worldwide.

Covering the entire EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Atlas will become the first global partner with Thunderbird in the UK. Atlas already has a strong regional presence in Europe, the Middle East, Far East and Australia, and its global reach was a key factor that proved attractive to Thunderbird and its online professional development division, Thunderbird Online. The first course released in the partnership is the online Certificate in Global Oil and Gas Management, which offers busy professionals from all levels of the oil and gas industry a greater understanding of the fundamentals in the global oil and gas business.  It also supports those who are looking to make a transition from technical roles or support roles into managerial positions, where a broader knowledge of the business is essential for their career advancement.

Atlas has been working at the forefront of safety and compliance training using innovative learning solutions to enhance employee skills and competency and reduce health, safety and environmental risks in the oil and gas industry since 1995. Every year, Atlas delivers over 350,000 learning events in over 40 countries and more than 20 languages and is trusted by over 150 leading international operators and over 750 energy and major service companies worldwide.

Atlas chief executive officer John Rowley said: “We are delighted to be working with such an internationally respected academic institution. There are clear benefits to both parties in this new partnership, but perhaps more importantly these strong synergies will certainly benefit the oil and gas industry at large.

“The Thunderbird Online partnership brings a whole new set of educational programmes into our sphere, continuing professional development relevant to our sector, from a global leading business school like Thunderbird. Being utilised by most of the major oil and gas and service companies in the US and with alumni like Bob Dudley, CEO of BP and David Seaton, the CEO of Fluor, Thunderbird programme’s are an exciting new addition to our portfolio and something we are confident that our clients will be very interested in.”

“Thunderbird Online’s Certificate in Global Oil and Gas Management is a cumulative result of Thunderbird’s rich history in oil and gas management education over the past 25 years. We are delighted to have Atlas, the leaders in technical and health and safety online training in the oil and gas industry, as Thunderbird Online’s affiliate partner in the oil and gas online learning space. We are confident that this partnership will enable us to continue to further educate global leaders worldwide through online continuing education,” Joe Patterson, Managing Director of Thunderbird Online.

The company recently launched its Atlas Knowledge Centre, delivering a cloud-based learning solution to the oil and gas industry to support employee learning and knowledge acquisition and so improve work performance. It is a truly mobile learning platform, accessible anytime and anywhere across a wide variety of media devices, from laptops to mobile phones.

It has recently undergone a successful trial with a leading North Sea operator and both the feedback and results have been impressive, with the company now signed up for roll out across the UK to hundreds of personnel, with potential global expansion to its workforce worldwide.
