Koden introduce its new Automatic Identification System (AIS) transceiver, combining AIS transponder unit with hi-contrast LCD display

New for 2012, Koden has introduced the KAT-100 Class A Automatic Identification System (AIS) transceiver, combining an AIS transponder unit with a high-contrast LCD display featuring rotary control knobs for quick data selection and entry via the keypad.

Koden say its new IMO Wheelmarked KAT-100 Class A AIS is an ideal solution for SOLAS and sub-SOLAS class vessels, workboats and high-end private yachts.

The KAT-100 transmits and exchanges the full range of required dynamic information with AIS equipped vessels, including Ship’s Position, Course Over Ground, Speed Over Ground, Heading, Navigation Status, and Rate of Turn.

It also exchanges important static vessel information such as MMSI Number, IMO Number, Vessel Name and Call Sign, Vessel Length and Beam, Type of Vessel, Location and more.    The KAT-100 also sends and receives voyage related data such as Destination and ETA, Ship’s Draft, Hazardous Cargo Type (if applicable), and more.

A single AIS transmitter and three AIS receivers are used to optimize performance, especially in heavily traveled commercial waterways.  The KAT-100’s internal 16-channel GPS receiver provides reliable time synchronization per Class A requirements.   All this is provided in a compact, rugged enclosure with 7 serial data ports (4 bidirectional), making it easy to output AIS data to a variety of radar, chartplotters and other marine electronics.
