Washington State Shipowner Fined for Spill

The Washington State Department of Ecology assessed a fine of $13,000 against the owner of a ship that accidentally discharged 50 gallons of waste oil into the Columbia River. Additionally, the Department will bill the company approximately $3,000 to recover the state’s costs in responding to the oil spill. Source: HK Law
