BMT Engaged in Australian Foreshore Project Design
BMT JFA Consultants (BMT) supports the Shire of Esperance, Western Australia in its plans to construct a granite seawall & headland.
BMT was originally commissioned to help develop the required technical specifications for the production of sufficient quarry rock to construct a granite seawall and headland as part of the Esperance Foreshore Protection & Enhancement Project. BMT’s support rapidly expanded to encompass the construction specifications and to review and finalise the detailed design of the structures. Part of this work has entailed the production of a detailed design report, which provides a basis for ongoing engineering support during the construction and post-construction management phases.
Further development in the scope of these works during early 2013 now sees additional support being provided by BMT, in the form of additional design works and studies to assist with the overall redevelopment plans. This includes design of a temporary bridging solution which will allow continued recreational access to Esperance’s historic Tanker Jetty and the assessment of coastal setback requirements for further shoreline structures, which are proposed for construction to the south of the seawall.
Brad Saunders, Director at BMT JFA Consultants comments: “From the development of conceptual designs through to construction supervision, our team are highly skilled in delivering coastal and maritime structures which satisfy the customer’s requirements. We have a long standing relationship with the Shire and we look forward to continuing our work through the construction phase to help deliver the optimum solution.”
With the design now finalised and a preferred contractor identified to construct the seawall and headland, BMT will continue to provide technical support to the Shire during the construction phase which is due to be completed in July 2013.
