Boskalis takes new semi-submersible heavy transport vessel and hopper dredger into service

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. informed that Dockwise vessel White Marlin was named and christened during a ceremony in Guangzhou, China. The semi-submersible heavy transport vessel will be mobilized to Singapore for its maiden transport of two drilling rigs for discharge in Abu Dhabi.

With its overall length of 216 meters, beam of 63 meters and deadweight of 72,000 metric tons, the White Marlin type I vessel strengthens Dockwise’s position in the heavy marine dry transport market.

Last month, Boskalis named and christened the trailing suction hopper dredger Freeway in the harbor next to its head office in Papendrecht, the Netherlands. The vessel is currently busy at work on its maiden project in the United Kingdom.

The Freeway is the fourth vessel in a series of 4,500 cubic meter hopper dredgers that have been built by Boskalis in recent years. The vessel is suited for operations in shallow water, including port maintenance and coastal protection projects.
