Containerships Group has launched a new and beefed up network and schedule of calls, focusing on larger vessels and adding new services with Norway and Denmark.
Containerships services will now focus on 700 to 900 teu vessels and will link Aarhus, Fredrikstad, Gdansk, Hamburg, Helsinki, Klaipeda, Liepaja, Rotterdam, Soderjtale, St Petersburg, Teesport and Tilbury with fast and frequent sailings. The new network brings Fredrikstad in Norway and Aarhus in Denmark into the system, linking them to Helsinki, and gives St Petersburg four calls per week. It also highlights the growing importance of the Latvian port of Liepaja as a Russian cargo transit point by serving that four times weekly. The system includes a weekly Hamburg - Liepaja service, which is a new route giving German shippers
access to Russia and the Baltic States. The 907 teu Finnish flag Aila
has been taken on charter to replace the smaller Baltic Sea, so all the
fleet is now similar in size.
