Metal Craft Marine, MIL Systems Get Contract

MetalCraft Marine and its joint venture partner MIL systems of Ottawa was awarded an option contract for four additional 47-ft. motor lifeboats. These self righting vessels are in addition to the original contract of seven, part of the Canadian Coast Guard Motor Life Boat program. The proprietary design is being built under a cooperation agreement between the U.S. Coast Guard and the Canadian Coast Guard. The U.S 40-ft. motor lifeboats are being built by Textron Land and Marine Systems of New Orleans and is powered by Twin Detroit 6V92 engines, while the Canadian Motor lifeboats are powered by twin Caterpillar 3196's. The completion of the next four Motor lifeboats for the Canadian Coast Guard is scheduled for the 2002. Contract value is $8,220,000 CDN.
