Transas's representative in Russia and CIS, Transas Eurasia Ltd (TEL), recently concluded a $1M contract with Brodosplit Shipyard, Croatia, to equip two 108,000 tons displacement tanker new buildings. According to the contract, the first stage of the procurement will be implemented in August, 2003, and the other one, in January, 2004. Both tankers, which are for Primorsk Shipping Company, will be supplied with complete Transas ECDIS - Navi-Sailor 3000, the new-generation marine navigation and information solution for the modern ship’s bridge. Navi-Sailor 3000 is designed in compliance with the latest IMO regulations for UAIS interface, and will be enhanced with ARPA/Radar and Conning display. The delivery set will also contain radio equipment, including GMDSS units, satellite communications and intercoms. Dmitry Lagoutin, Head of the New Buildings Unit in TEL, believes the company is becoming a serious player in the new buildings market in Europe. “By using the latest design technologies, integrated navigational solutions and competitive pricing, Transas Eurasia, which has extensive experience of similar projects gained in the Russian market, is well placed to become a leader in this post-socialist sector,” he said.
