Oman Shipping Company (OSC) takes delivery of  317,000 dwt VLCC with advanced BWT system

Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C. (OSC) took delivery of a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) “BUKHA”, at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd (DSME), Okpo, South Korea. 

“BUKHA” is designed and constructed according to the latest international standards, and it has advanced ballast water treatment technology to comply with international conventions on the protection of the environment from the effects of transportation of ballast water and sediments around the world. 

The vessel is 317,000 deadweight (DWT) capacity, is 333 meters in length overall, 60 meter in beam and has a design draft of 21 meters. "Bukha" will be technically managed by International Tanker Management (ITM), Dubai, which is a subsidiary of “V Ships” and will trade in the VL8 Pool, a joint venture company between OSC (40%), Navig8 (55%) and VTN (5%), based in Singapore. Including this vessel, OSC now has 14 out of 15 VLCCs in the VL8 Pool.

Since commercial operations began in 2003, OSC now has a fleet of 35 vessels, and an order book of 6 vessels to be delivered between now and 2014.
