Gondan Delivers Patrol Boats Rio Belelle, Rio Agueda

Gondan GRP Division has handed over two 36 knots maximum speed patrol boats.

Yesterday the GRP Patrol Boats built for the Maritime Service of the Spanish Guardia Civil by Gondan Shipyard were officially delivered in Cádiz, Andalucía.

With an overall length of 20.9 meters and a beam of 5 meters, the boats built in Fiber (GRP) in Gondan’s Castropol yard, sailed to destination, arriving at Cadiz and Algeciras ports, from where they will operate.

These two Patrol Vessels were designed and equipped for surveillance, fighting drug trafficking and illegal immigration, plus protection of the marine environment, according to the duties of the Guardia Civil. Built for a service life of at least 15 years, the boats can reach 36 knots speed thanks to more than 2,000 horsepower output power.

With a range of more than 570 miles and fitted with water-jet propellers, they comply with MARPOL air pollution standards. These vessels, designed according to the strict requirements by the Guardia Civil, are equipped with radar capabilities for 96 miles, and provide accommodation for five crew members in cabins, according to the standard of Guardia Civil for this type of vessel. On board there are life-saving and first aid means.

The patrol boats construction was carried out in the GRP Division in Castropol, facilities where Gondan Shipyard is developing a new line of workboats business. The new facilities were specifically designed and built for this type of vessel. They are formed by a workshop of 2,000m2, of which 1,400m2 are fully thermally insulated and heated. In addition, it is equipped with a fireproof and isolated welding zone, an area for resin projection and a vacuum pump for lamination by infusion. Furthermore, this plant has temperature and humidity control systems installed.

Gondan Shipyard plans to expand its GRP Division facilities soon.
