30 Rosneft Subsidiaries in All-Russian Environmental Cleanup Day
Thirty Rosneft subsidiaries in most of the regions of the Company presence, from Sakhalin in the east to the Arkhangelsk Region in the west, took part in the All-Russian Environmental Cleanup Day ‘Green Russia’. As part of the event, Rosneft subsidiaries workers made a vital contribution to the environmental situation improvement in towns, villages, and parks.
The event was supported by the Russian Federation Ministry of Natural Resources, the Russian Federation Ministry of Regional Development, regional government executive bodies, and by non-governmental organizations. Companies of the Rosneft Group take part in this event for the second consecutive year.
In the Samara Region, Samaraneftegaz employees carried out site improvements within the Samara Bend national park, natural and cultural site, which receives more than million visitors per year. Most of them are unorganized tourists, who unfortunately damage the park by litter. The cooperation with the park started back in 2010, when oil workers helped to backfill tourist trails, paint summerhouses and benches. In the following years, in addition to litter collection, employees of the major oil producing enterprise in the region have planted about 350 trees. In 2013, oil workers planted about 5 thousand pine plants in the area of 6 hectares. During this year event, 40 employees of Samaraneftegaz cleaned up the territories adjacent to the recreational area, mounted benches, and fixed hard landscaping. Oil workers intend to participate in supporting natural environment of the park in future.
Employees of Novokuibyshev Oils and Additives Plant took part in domestic garbage collection along the lake shore in
Lebedi village, place of resort of the citizens. In addition to it, the plant employees patronize the villages in Novokuibyshev suburbs. Since the beginning of the year, with the use of specialized machinery they have collected and removed 70 tones of litter. In place of the former waste ground cleared by the plant employees, there will be constructed a children's playground.
Young professionals from Ryazan Oil Refinery took part in domestic garbage collection within the grove on Beryozovaya street, one of the top destinations among Ryazan citizens. The area of more than 1 thousand square m has been cleaned up. Besides, Ryazan Oil Refinery has been taking part in domestic garbage collection and green planting organization on city centre streets for 12 years.
About 100 employees of Saratov Refinery took part in cleaning up the pine forest, place of resort of Saratov citizens. The event was accompanied by musical bands performances.
Employees of 50 workshops of process managements of Yuganskneftegaz were actively involved in cleaning landscape territories within Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District-Yugra, and painting objects of the park infrastructure. The employees annually participate in events aimed at sanitation, landscaping and site finishing, provide support to municipal formations.
Employees of RN-Severnaya Neft in Usinsk (the Komi Republic), and of RN-Purneftegaz in Gubkinsky (the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District) cleaned up urban areas.
Similar events have been also organized in other Rosneft subsidiaries. Rosneft puts a priority on prevention and decrease of adverse environmental impact. The Company is implementing Health, Safety and Environmental Policy, which in particular provides for increase of industrial and environmental safety of the Company production sites to the level complying with the best rates of world oil companies, constant development of the control system in the region of ISLPE, and decrease of industrial risks from newly introduced objects.
The integrated management control system of industrial safety, work safety, and environment certificated against international standards OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004 successfully operates in Rosneft. The significant step was to sign a Declaration on Protection of the Environment and Biodiversity for Oil and Gas Exploration and Development on the Russian Arctic Continental Shelf prepared at the initiative of Rosneft in cooperation with its partners, such leading world energy companies as Statoil, ExxonMobil, and Eni.
