On March 21, 2014, senior management from N-KOM and Nakilat attended the launching and naming ceremony of N-KOM’s Q-Max sized floating dock at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea.

42,000T of fabrication work has been completed for the floating dock named Laffan, measuring 405m by 66m with a lifting capacity of 120,000T.

The second Handymax-size floating dock measuring 163m by 26m with a lifting capacity of 6,250T is currently under construction at N-KOM.

Expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2015, the two floating docks will double the current docking capacity of the shipyard, allowing it more flexibility for vessel scheduling and meeting client’s requirements.
