French liquefied natural gas containment system specialist Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has received an order, in June, from the Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).

The shipping engineering company said in a press release that the order is concerning the tank design of four new 174,000 m3 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers on behalf of the Greek ship-owner Maran Gas.

The delivery of the ships is planned between end of 2021 and early 2022, said the release.

Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT said: "We are very pleased to continue our partnership of excellence with DSME and Maran Gas with this considerable new order."

Last month, GTT received an order from the Chinese shipyard Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. for the tank design of 5 new LNG-fuelled container ships of 15,000 TEU capacity each.

The ships will be built on behalf of a European ship-owner and their delivery will be staggered between the second half of 2021 and the first half of 2022.
