Last month, POSH Xanadu, the largest purpose-built floatel to date was delivered at PaxOcean in Zhoushan. POSH Xanadu is a ship-shaped column stabilized semi-submersible accommodation platform, housing 750 passengers and crew in 390 spacious cabins. Imtech Marine, through its Service and Nav/Com brand Radio Holland, is technology partner of PaxOcean in this unique project.

Imtech Marine supplied all the navigation and external communication equipment onboard. The systems were specifically required to meet the higher specifications as put forward by DNV regulations but also the requirements of the end user Petrobras. Imtech Marine and PaxOcean worked together on the Technical Agreement to ensure the vessel met the requirements and was delivered on time.

POSH Xanadu is an offshore accommodation to support the maintenance, hookup and commissioning of platforms and floating production units in all weather and sea conditions offshore.

“PaxOcean is delighted to partner with Imtech for the Radio Holland Navigation and External Communication Systems aboard the first-of-its-kind semi-submersible 750 POB DP3 accommodation vessel POSH Xanadu, and her sister vessel POSH Arcadia,” said Director of Procurement, Danny Kwek.

Imtech Marine has built a strong partnership with PaxOcean Zhuhai and PaxOcean Zhoushan over the last years. Both shipyards are specialized in building Offshore Support Vessels such as Light Construction Vessels, Anchor Handling Tugs, Platform Supply Vessels and ASD Tugs. The companies worked together on about 30 of their vessels supplying Navigation and Communication equipment onboard.

In the 4th quarter of 2014 Imtech Marine signed on for two new projects including five vessels of which three Platform Supply Vessels and two Anchor Handling Tugs.
