An investigation is underway to determine the cause of an explosion aboard a Liberian-registered LPG tanker which killed five people in a Philippine shipyard facility. The Subic Shipyard, despite the big blast on Monday, is reported to be under normal working operations.
Subic Shipyard is a repair facility for ocean-going vessels and lies about 20 km (12 miles) from the Subic Bay freeport, a former U.S. naval base which the Philippines has transformed into an industrial hub.
Eight other people were injured in the blast.
