Solstad Offshore Hooks $70M in CSV Contracts with Petrobras

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Solstad Offshore has secured $70 million in new contracts and extensions for two of its subsea construction vessels (CSV) that will be employed offshore Brazil.The new contract is for the CSV Normand Fortress with Brazilian state-run oil company Petrobras.The contract has a duration of two years firm with possibility of two years extension. The vessel will provide accommodation services to support production activities on Brazilian continental shelf.The contract is set to start in the second quarter of 2024…

Hornbeck Offshore Eyes U.S. Offshore Wind Work with OSV-to-SOV Conversion Project

U.S. offshore vessel owner Hornbeck Offshore Services, best known for its offshore oil and gas support vessel services, is looking at business opportunities in the growing U.S. offshore wind sector as well as in offshore accommodation services in the oil and gas area.For that, Covington, La. based Hornbeck Offshore said Wednesday it had contracted Eastern Shipbuilding Group to convert one of its recently acquired 280-foot offshore supply vessels (OSV) to a service operation vessel (SOV) to meet the growing demand of the U.S.

Siem, Solstad Offshore Vessels Net Deals in Canada, Brazil

Norwegian offshore vessel owners Solstad Offshore and Siem Offshore said Monday in separate statements they'd secured a contract for their offshore vessels.Solstad Offshore won a contract for its construction support vessel Normand Valiant with Brazil's Petrobras. Normand Valiant will provide accommodation services to support production activities on the Brazilian continental shelf. The charter is two years firm with an option of a two-year extension. The contract is expected to start in the second quarter of 2022.

Tallink Charters Out Additional Vessel to COP26

Tallink Grupp announced it recently signed a charter agreement for its Latvian-flagged cruise vessel Romantika, which has also been hired to provide accommodation at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), taking place in Glasgow, Scotland on October 31– November 12.Several weeks ago, the company said it signed a charter agreement for its Tallinn-Helsinki route cruise vessel Silja Europa to provide accommodation services at the global climate conference in Glasgow from October 21 to November 14.

Norway Rejects Prosafe-Floatel Merger

The Norwegian Competition Authority has rejected the proposed merger between Scandinavian offshore accommodation/construction support providers Prosafe and Floatel.Oslo-listed accommodation services player Prosafe in a press release said that it will study the decision in detail, and expects to decide on whether to appeal shortly and within the deadline within three weeks.The company owns and operates semi-submersible accommodation vessels operating at present in the North Sea region and off Latin America.Last month the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority raised similar concerns that it could drive up prices to unsustainable levels…

Maersk Supply Service Wins Total Contract

Maersk Supply Service said it has fixed the newbuild subsea support vessels vessel (SSV) Maersk Involver for 161 days to support maintenance of the DAN F platform located offshore Esbjerg for walk-to-walk and accommodation services. The contract is expected to commence start-April 2019.Delivered in November 2017, the Stingray class Maersk Involver features DP3 station keeping capabilties and 120 modern single cabins. Equinor Extends Prosafe Deal

Semi-submersible firm Prosafe said that it has been offered a month extension for the Safe Boreas charter contract at the Mariner project by operator Equinor."Equinor UK Limited (formerly Statoil (UK) Limited) has exercised the first of six one-month options to extend the charter of the Safe Boreas. The total value of the option is USD 6 million," said a press statement.In early August 2017, the Safe Boreas commenced a 13 month firm operational period at Mariner in the UK sector of the North Sea. The firm operational period will now continue through to early October 2018.Prosafe is a leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels.

Aker BP Hires Prosafe Vessel

Prosafe has signed a contract with Aker BP ASA for the Safe Scandinavia to provide accommodation support at the Ula platform in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The firm duration of the contract commencing mid-August 2018 is seven months with eight one-month options. Total value of the contract excluding the option periods is approximately USD 25.5 million. The option periods, if exercised, have a total value of approximately USD 36.7 million. The contract will ensure employment of the Safe Scandinavia soon after expiry of her previous contract that concluded end-June 2018. Colombo Dockyard to Build Two Vessels for Iraq

The leader of Shipbuilding Industry in Sri Lanka Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) has successfully secured a contract with Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) of Japan to build two vessels; Pilot Station Vessel and Buoy Tender Vessel, for General Company for Port of Iraq (GCPI). TTC and GCPI signed the Prime Contract on 27th April 2018 in Dubai. Subsequent to the signing of the Prime Contract, TTC signed the Sub Contract Agreement with CDPLC as TTC’s preferred Shipyard for the construction of these vessels on 2nd May 2018 in Japan. TTC is a trading and investing company which is also a group company of TOYOTA. By recognizing the potential of CDPLC, TTC decided to collaborate with CDPLC for this project to compete and submit bid proposals in response to a tender floated by GCPI in July 2017.

Telford Offshore: A New Offshore Services Provider

Emas Offshore Sinks Deeper into Red

EMAS Offshore Limited announced today a net loss of US$265.3 million for the full year ended 31 August 2016 (“FY2016”). Net loss for the three months ended 31 August 2016 (“4QFY2016”) stood at US$98.5 million. For the full year period under review, the Group recorded revenue of US$167.6 million, as compared to revenue of US$247.2 million in the year-ago period (“FY2015”). This decline in revenue was the result of continual weakness in the offshore industry leading to markedly lower demand as well as general oversupply in the offshore support vessels (“OSV”) segment. Gross loss for the year stood at US$49.8 million as compared to gross profit of US$29.4 million in the previous corresponding period.

Gondan Launches first Dual Fuel Tug Built in Europe

Gondan Shipyard in Figueras launched the first Dual Fuel tug ever built in Europe – and the first of a series of three currently under construction for the Norwegian shipowner Østensjø Rederi. MPI Adventure Wins Sandbank OSS Commissioning Work

Vroon subsidiary MPI Adventure has been contracted to assist with the commissioning works on the offshore substation of the Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm. MPI Adventure will provide accommodation services, lifting operations and provision of supplies.   The Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm is located approximately 90 kilometers west of the island of Sylt in the German Bight. It will consist of 72 4-megawatt turbines which will also be installed by MPI Adventure as of summer 2016.

Wärtsilä, Prosafe Ink Flotels Maintenance Deal

Wärtsilä, a global leader in complete lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets, has signed a long-term maintenance agreement with Prosafe, the world's leading owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels also known as flotels. The 10-year agreement was signed in October 2015 and covers the diesel engines onboard Prosafe's new build flotel Safe Boreas. Maintenance agreements for Prosafe's three other new build flotels - Safe Notos, Safe Zephyrus and Safe Eurus - are expected to be signed later in 2016. Flotels will be delivered in 2015-2016. The scope of the signed maintenance agreement is comprehensive. It includes all services from the supply of spare parts and maintenance work to fast online support and assistance for Prosafe's vessels.

Energy Firms Partner to Cut Costs in the North Sea

Petrofac, Faroe Petroleum and Eni Hewett have established a cost-saving partnership to drive efficiencies and commercial synergies across U.K. operations in the Southern North Sea. The tripartite agreement sees collaboration between Petrofac (Duty Holder) and the respective equity owners and operators of the Hewett, Schooner and Ketch gas fields to share logistics and accommodation services across the facilities. Faroe Petroleum is operator and 60 percent equity holder in the Schooner and Ketch fields, and Eni Hewett is operator and 89 percent equity holder in the Hewett complex.

Edda & its Five Star Offshore Accommodations

 Over eight months during 2012 – 2013, we operated the Edda Fides in the Bass Strait between south east Australia and Tasmania on the KTT (Kipper Tuna Turrum) project, the largest domestic  gas  development on the eastern seaboard of Australia at the time. OOS Enters Long Term Contract with Petrobras

OOS International B.V., a company providing offshore accommodation services, announced that with support from CIMC Capital it has secured a four-plus-four-year charter contract for two semisubmersible crane and accommodation platforms for Petrobras Brazil. OOS International has scheduled the delivery of the two vessels to Petrobras at the start 2014. The OOS Gretha DP3 can accommodate 618 persons on board and sister vessel the OOS Prometheus can accommodate 500 persons on board.

New Accommodation Vessel Ordered by Edda

Edda Accommodation, operated by Østensjø Rederi, order a mono-hulled accommodation vessel from Hyundai Heavy Industries. This next generation Offshore Accommodation Vessel, designed by Salt Ship Design, is 155 meter long and will have a total accommodation capacity of 800 persons in one or two men cabins. The interior of the vessel is of executive standard, and will include 850 m2 office space as well as recreation areas, such as modern gym, sauna, two swimming pools, conference rooms and an auditorium. Delivery of the first vessel will be in June 2015.

Offshore Accommodation – Edda Builds, Signs Contracts

By entering into these two new contracts, Edda Accommodation has secured the utilization of Edda Fides until the end of 2013. The contracts include general construction, transport and accommodation support for the construction of new offshore oil and gas installations. Including options, the new contracts are worth 150 million US dollars. As a result of the successful experience with Edda Fides, Edda Accommodation has now started the process of building two additional monohull accommodation vessels. The designers of these two vessels will be Salt Ship Design.

OOS Secures 10 Month Charter

OOS International B.V., an offshore services company that provides offshore accommodation services, announced that it officially secured a 10-month 250 Pax DPII time charter contract plus options for the Halani Group, chartering the vessel Halani 1 to Acergy-/Exxon. The vessel will be operated by the Halani Group and will work offshore Angola. “This is a significant achievement for the company; we were able to complete such a unique transaction over the course of 200 days. Wärtsilä Sells first Nitrogen Oxides Reducers

The SCR product for Wärtsilä medium-speed engines is named Nitrogen Oxide Reducer (NOR). In the installation shown, the core of the installation is the reactor on the exhaust uptake. It is accompanied by separate pumping and dosing units to deliver the urea solution to the reactor, and a dedicated control cabinet.

The Wärtsilä NOR units are selective catalytic reduction (SCR) converters that will meet the stringent requirements of IMO Tier III emissions control regulations with regard to NOX reduction. Wärtsilä has received an order from Edda Accomodation, which is part of the Østensjø Group in Norway, to supply six Wärtsilä Nitrogen Oxides Reducer (NOR) units for an accommodation vessel. They will be installed on the six nine-cylinder Wärtsilä 26 generating sets, which were ordered in the end of 2006 in addition to other auxiliary equipment and automation.

Superior Energy Services Acquires Duffy & McGovern

Duffy & McGovern Accommodation Services has been acquired by US oilfield services firm Superior Energy Services Inc. The $47m deal sees Superior Energy Services continue its international expansion and complement its existing accommodation subsidiary HB Rentals, which is headquartered in Broussard, La. and provides accommodation and accessories to oil and gas companies in Oklahoma, Texas, the Rocky Mountains, Gulf of Mexico and Trinidad. As a result of the deal, Duffy & McGovern, which is headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland and whose staff and management team will all remain in position, will be investing some US$15 million (UK£7.6 million) with immediate effect to accelerate its fleet growth.

Tuna Farming Goes Offshore

Izar Fene Shipyard, in collaboration with Itsazi Aquaculturehas, has developed an Offshore unit for the breeding, fattening and transport of the bluefin tuna (Thunnus Thynuus). Sailing at eight knots, the unit is able to transport (e.g.) living tunas from the Mediterranean to Japan. The proposed Tuna Offshore Unit combines a unique fish farming facility with a modern marine design to produce an offshore unit capable of purchasing young Tuna Fish in the selling centers, fattening of 1,200 tons of tuna fish in nine months in hot water areas improving the efficiency of the growing process. Upon completion, the fish are then presented to the fish markets at best prices. Other aquatic species such as salmon, bass, cod, se bream, hake, etc, could also be produced. The 603 x 184 ft.
