UK-based offshore vessel operator North Star has awarded a new contract to Great Yarmouth-based shipbuilding Alicat Workboats Ltd for the construction of two new offshore wind daughter craft.The hybrid-propulsion workboats 5 & 6, designed by Chartwell Marine, will be integrated into North Star’s renewable fleet. Edda Wind Daughter Craft for Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm

Norwegian offshore service operation vessel provider and operator Edda Wind has launched the Boreas Worker daughter craft crew transfer vessel (CTV).The vessel, designed by Chartwell Marine, has been built by Alicat Workboats, on behalf of Astilleros Gondan. North Star's Offshore Wind Vessel Named After Victorian Heroine Grace Darling

North Star’s new UK-built hybrid-powered daughter craft, specifically designed for the offshore wind market, has been launched at a naming ceremony held at the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk Yacht club in Lowestoft, adjacent to the firm’s regional operations hub. The vessel was christened ‘Grace Darling’ in honor of a famous lighthouse keeper’s daughter from the North East of England who risked her life in 1838 to save the stranded survivors of a wrecked merchant ship traveling from Hull to Dundee.

UK-based offshore vessel operator North Star has awarded a £2 million contract to Great Yarmouth firm Alicat Workboats to build two new Chartwell designed daughter craft.The vessels will be added to North Star's new renewables fleet which is bound for the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm, located off the North East coast of England, from next year.Last September, Alicat Workboats won a contract to build an initial two daughter crafts for the offshore wind service vessel operator. The vessels have a hybrid powered design, developed by Chartwell Marine, in collaboration with North Star.

CWind Expands Offshore Vessel Fleet

Dart Fisher Ready for O&M Work

Rolls-Royce Water Jets for Windfarm Support Vessels

Rolls-Royce said it has secured a contract to supply water jets for three wind farm support vessels to be built by South Boats IOW for the offshore wind transfer vessel operator Seacat Services. In what Rolls-Royce called one of the biggest orders made for wind farm workboats, one 24-meter and two 26-meter aluminum catamarans, each featuring two Rolls-Royce 56A3 stainless steel water jets, will be used to transfer people and cargo to the growing number of offshore wind farms around the coast of Europe.

As the 2013 Seawork International Show approaches, U.K.-based marine exhaust specialist, Halyard, announced thatit has been selected by Great Yarmouth based boat builder Alicat Workboats to ensure its new four WFSV (Wind Farm Support Vessels) remain quiet on the water and to provide increased comfort for those on board. Alicat Workboats commissioned Halyard to design, build and install a full exhaust silencer system for all four of its new state-of-the-art Offshore Wind Farm Service Vessels. South Boats Bought out of Administration

The business of major British work boat company South Boats Special Projects Limited has been sold out of administration – saving a significant number of jobs on the Isle of Wight. A manufacturer of service vessels for the offshore wind power industry, which is based out of Cowes on the Isle of Wight, has been bought for an undisclosed sum by Alicat Workboats Limited.
