GE Power Conversion Wins Contract for Military Sealift Command Vessel Maintenance

The U.S. Navy Military Sealift Command (MSC) has awarded GE Power Conversion an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to maintain the electric and hybrid electric power and propulsion systems aboard its vessels. The five-year contract potentially could be worth $125 million.The contract covers maintenance, modernization and upgrades, training, repairs, parts, remote technical support, and program management on 35 vessels, with more ships to be added as they are built and turned over to MSC after commissioning.

HII snaps-up $27 mi DDG 51-Class Navy deal

Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Ingalls Shipbuilding division received a $27 million cost-plus-award fee contract from the U.S. Navy today for follow yard services in the Navy’s USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) program. The contract, which provides liaison and technical support, engineering, design and configuration management, systems engineering, turn-key management and crew indoctrination, includes four option years with a total potential contract value of $181.4 million if all options are exercised. “This contract highlights our shipyard’s versatility in handling all aspects of shipbuilding for the Navy,” said Ingalls Shipbuilding President Brian Cuccias.

U.S. Coast Guard Selects FLIR and Raymarine

FLIR Maritime announced recently that it has been awarded a $50 million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract to provide marine electronics systems under the U.S. Coast Guard’s Scalable Integrated Navigation Systems 2 (SINS-2) program over a five-year period providing the purchaser a right to extend delivery for an additional five years. FLIR will provide electronics systems that will be standard fit on over 2,000 U.S. Coast Guard vessels, ranging from small-class boats through large cutter-class vessels. The systems include Raymarine multi-function navigation displays, radars, sonars, remote instrument displays, and autopilots.

Sub M 90 Program Underway

MarineCFO Offers Vessel365 & Homeport365. Industry technology services provider, MarineCFO, has announced the “Sub M 90” Program commencing February 25, 2016 and terminating June 22, 2016. According to Tug & Barge Solutions, a Sub M consultant and MarineCFO partner, the Office of Management & Budget (OMB) received the Final Rule version of Sub Chapter M from United States Coast Guard on February 12, 2016. The OMB has until June 22nd to review the Sub Chapter M Final Rule prior to publication in the Federal Register. The MarineCFO “Sub M 90” Program kicked off on February 25, 2016 to support towing operators during this OMB review process. GE Extends Royal Canadian Navy Contract

Scott is a design engineer with over 30 years of experience in thermal and hydraulic analysis, heat exchanger design, thermal performance testing and fluid system design. BAE Systems Awards Software Contract to SENER

The Spanish company SENER, Ingeniería y Sistemas S.A has closed a contract with U.K.-based BAE Systems PLC for the integration between FORAN CAD/CAM System and PTC’s Windchill PLM System to be used in the design and manufacturing activities of Type 26 Program. According to the contract, FORAN-Windchill Integration (FWI) will be implemented in BAE Systems Naval Ships in Scotstoun and Portsmouth. FWI is being deployed following a phased approach. GD Electric Boat Gets Potential US$1.5-Billion Navy Contract

The Department of Defense informs that General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp., Groton, Connecticut, is being awarded a $234,229,426 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for design agent, planning yard, engineering and technical support for active nuclear submarines. This contract includes options, which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $1,537,500,654. affordability/cost reduction technical support. Work will be performed in Groton, Connecticut (73 percent); Bangor, Washington (9 percent); Norfolk, Virginia (6 percent); Newport, Rhode Island (4 percent); Quonset, Rhode Island (3 percent); Kings Bay, Georgia (3 percent); and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (2 percent), and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2015.

Remotec Awarded US Navy Repair Contract

The U.S. Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation subsidiary Remotec Inc. an $8.8 million contract to repair and upgrade 103 MK3 Series Remote Ordnance Neutralizations Systems (RONS), increasing the capabilities and availability of the explosive ordnance disposal robots. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division, Indian Head, Maryland, awarded Remotec a sole-source, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract (IDIQ), which has a potential value of more than $12 million if contract options are exercised.

Northrop Grumman to Supply Icebreaker Navigation Package

Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded a service contract for navigation systems and software to support the polar ice breakers for the U. S. Coast Guard. The $5 million, five-year contract covers support for two Coast Guard vessels, the Polar Star and the Healy. These polar ice breakers are used to clear pathways for supply ships and support research missions. Northrop Grumman has provided comparable support for the Coast Guard's polar ice breakers since 1999. Northrop Grumman will supply hardware configuration management, remote technical support and training classes.

Huntington Ingalls Industries' subsidiary AMSEC contracted to support submarine & surface ship new construction. HII Gets USN Submarine Engineering & Industrial Work Contract

Huntington Ingalls Industries' Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division awarded the $142.7 million contract from the U.S. Navy. The contract option is for work on operational and decommissioning U.S. Navy submarines, conversion submarines, special mission submersibles, submarine support facilities and related programs. NNS is the prime contractor for the work, which will include engineering, design, configuration management, integrated logistic support, database management, research and development, modernization and industrial support. Work is expected to begin immediately and continue through September 2013. FRC Test Coxswain Course For RIBs & High Speed Craft

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc., Newport News, Va., is being awarded a $9,707,686 modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-10-C-2102) for engineering, technical, design, configuration management, integrated logistics support, database management support of new construction and conversion/special mission submersibles, and submarine support facilities.  Contract funds in the amount of $1,063,182 are obligated at time of award.  Work will be performed in Newport News, Va., and is expected to be completed September 2012.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Athens Group Doubles Revenue, First Half of 2010
