Italian oil and gas company Eni said Saturday that the first hydrocarbons had been introduced  from the Coral South reservoir offshore Mozambique into the Coral South FLNG unit.Eni operates the offshore Area 4 where the Coral South FLNG is located. Eni's partners are ExxonMobil, CNPC, GALP, KOGAS, and ENH.Coral South, also known as Coral Sul, FLNG will now be ready to achieve its first LNG cargo in the second half of 2022, adding Mozambique to the LNG-producing countries."Hydrocarbons introduction comes after the safe and timely conclusion of the offshore commissioning activities.

Singapore-based offshore vessel provider Nortrans has secured a flotel contract with TechnipEnergies to support the hook-up of the giant Coral Sul FLNG unit that has recently arrived in Mozambique after a journey from South Korea where it was built.Nortrans said that the flotel contract had a potential total period of up to 200 days including options. Italian energy industry giant Eni said Monday it had held the naming and sail away ceremony for the Coral-Sul FLNG unit, the first floating LNG facility ever to be deployed in the deep waters of the African continent. The event took place at Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Geoje, South Korea, in the presence of Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, and H.E. Italian energy major Eni has started installation works on the hull of the Coral Sul floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) treatment and liquefaction unit that will be moored offshore in Mozambique.According to a press note from ENI, the unit is part of the Coral South project, which will put in production 450 billion cubic meters of gas from the giant Coral reservoir. Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has, through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Keppel FELS Brasil S.A. and Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard), secured projects from repeat customers, Petrobras and SOFEC Inc. (SOFEC) respectively, worth a combined value of approximately S$130 million. Keppel FELS Brasil's BrasFELS shipyard has secured hull carry over work for the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit P-69 from Tupi BV (a consortium formed by Petrobras Netherlands B.V., operator with 65%; Shell with 25%; and Petrogal Brasil with 10%), which is represented by Petrobras. The additional work scope on P-69 includes the installation of equipment and cables for the hull as well as the commissioning of marine systems.

Global Capex on FLNG facilities is set to grow at a 9% CAGR over the 2018-2023 period, with expenditure forecast to total $37.6bn, said Douglas-Westwood report. Given the strong fundamental drivers – increasing gas consumption due to economic growth, fuel switching, and energy security – the outlook for the import vessels will remain strong over the 2018-2023 period. During the quarter ended June 30, 2017, there was continued momentum in the start-up of new LNG liquefaction capacity with the fourth train at Sabine Pass commencing commercial production. Later this year, Wheatstone in Australia and Cove Point on the east coast of the U.S. are expected to start production. Italian energy company Eni signed a deal on Thursday to develop a huge gas field offshore Mozambique, the first of a series of projects that could transform the poor African nation into a major energy supplier to Asia.   The Coral South field, discovered in May 2012, is within Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin and contains approximately 450 billion cubic meters (16 TCF) of gas in place. BP and the Area 4 concession partners, Eni East Africa (EEA), Galp Energia (Galp), Kogas and Empresa Nactional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH), have entered into a sales and purchase agreement for BP to purchase 100% of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced by the EEA-operated Coral South Floating LNG facility expected to be installed offshore Mozambique. The agreement covers the purchase of LNG for over 20 years. The agreement, which has been approved by the government of Mozambique, is conditional on the Final Investment Decision (FID) being taken for the project, which is currently expected by the end of 2016. The Coral South Floating LNG facility is expected to have a capacity above 3.3 million tonnes per annum. BP will use LNG from the contract to help meet its global supply commitments.

KBR Inc. announced today that the KD Consortium, consisting of KBR and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Company, Ltd, has been awarded a front end engineering design (FEED) contract by Eni East Africa SpA for a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility for the Coral South Development Project located in Mozambique. With the award, the KD consortium will be one of three consortia competing for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract to build the new floating LNG facility for Eni East Africa and its partners to develop the hydrocarbon discovery in the Rovuma Basin in Mozambique. Only one consortium will be chosen to take the project to the EPCIC phase. FEED activities started in May 2014.
