CSO Deep Blue Delivered

Coflexip Stena Offshore said its new-built ultra deepwater pipelay and subsea construction vessel, the CSO Deep Blue, was delivered on March 1, by Hyundai Mipo Dockyards after is successfully completed sea trials. CSO Deep Blue – at the time of the release — was sailing to the Netherlands, where her unique CSO designed pipelay equipment, will be installed. This pipelay system will allow the vessel to lay rigid pipe (reeled and J-Lay), flexible pipe, and umbilicals down to 8,200 ft. (2,500 m), offering CSO clients the full range of products and installation options for their deep and ultra deepwater developments. The vessel is to begin operations during summer 2001 after sea trials with her pipelay equipment.

Torqeedo Introduces New Deep Blue Inboard

Torqeedo now offers a shaft drive version of its 40 and 80 horsepower Deep Blue motor. An electric drive designed for marine use from the ground up, the Deep Blue inboard shares the safety, power and performance of the original outboard system, also featuring a quiet, low-maintenance, fume-free and environmentally friendly ride, Torqeedo said. Torqeedo said customers see electric cars and buses on the streets and are intrigued by the benefits of this propulsion on their boats. However, many systems on the market are one-off solutions without comprehensive safety features.

Deep Blue Marine Requests Recovery Permit

Deep Blue Marine, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: DPBE) announced that the company has requested a recovery permit as specified in its contract with the Government of the Dominican Republic. Working under the supervision of the Marina de Guerra Dominicana and an inspector from the Oficina Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural Subacuático, Deep Blue has signed an agreement to provide services in the area of survey, recovery and restoration of artifacts for an undisclosed permitted area on the north shore. The request was made as a result of major historical finds in the contract area. The location of the find will not be released to the public at this time, but company vessels will be onsite as soon as permission for recovery is granted. Deep Blue Marine, Inc.

Coflexip Stena Offshore reported that its new deepwater pipelay and subsea construction vessel, the CSO Deep Blue, has commenced operations for the Williams Banjo/Seahawk project in the Gulf of Mexico after successful completion of her first mobilization at CSO's new spoolbase in Mobile, Ala. The vessel is to install the Boomvang and Nansen fields deepwater export pipelines. The CSO Deep Blue is to undertake the installation contract of the export pipelines from the Boomvang and Nansen fields, located in 3,600 ft. (1,100 m) water depth in the East Breaks blocks 643 and 602, to a platform located in 365 ft. (110 m) water depth in the Galveston area, block 244.

Samson Rope, SWOS Team for Heavy Lift

Samson high-performance synthetic slings helped Technip install subsea hardware at Petrobras’ Cascade & Chinook project. Installing two pumping stations and two manifolds at Petrobras’s Cascade and Chinook fields in the Gulf of Mexico at depths in excess of 2,500m was accomplished with a “wet handshake” and the assistance of Samson’s AmSteel-Blue fabricated into lifting slings for the operation. Technip was the contractor, and Deep Blue was the installation vessel used during the deepwater installation.

Jumbo, Technip Installation in 8,200 ft of Water

Technip USA, supported by its contractor Jumbo Offshore have completed the installation of five free standing hybrid risers (FSHR’s) for the Petrobras America Inc. Cascade & Chinook ultra-deepwater project in the Gulf of Mexico. Transportation of the five buoyancy cans was handled by Jumbo’s Fairplayer. Installation, lead by Technip, was engineered and executed in smooth and successful collaboration. Technip’s construction vessels Deep Blue and Deep Pioneer, together with the Fairplayer, installed the buoyancy cans and risers in winter conditions and with zero HSE recordable.

Technip Offshore Wins Pipeline Contract

Technip Offshore Contractors Inc., formerly Coflexip Stena Offshore Inc., a U.S. entity of Technip-Coflexip has been awarded by BP America Production Company the fabrication and installation of a deepwater subsea pipeline for their King West Development. The King West well is located in Mississippi Canyon Block 84 in the Gulf of Mexico. The planned field layout for this development consists of one subsea well located in MC 84, tied back to an existing in-line subsea tie-in base associated with the producing King Subsea Flowline System. The pipeline installation is scheduled for April 2003, utilizing Technip-Coflexip's ultra deepwater pipe laying vessel the CSO Deep Blue…

Canada's Largest Electric Tour Boat Launched

A new, emission-free electric tour boat now plies the Rideau Canal, powered by two 80 horsepower Torqeedo electric motors. The 75-foot, 100-passenger vessel Queen Elizabeth Dr. is the first of two planned vessels to offer guided tours and host events on the canal. The second, Colonel By, is expected to enter service in the spring of 2017. “Torqeedo's high-power Deep Blue system was the obvious choice to propel Canada's largest electric passenger vessel because of its comprehensive safety systems,” said Robert Taillefer, owner of The Queen Elizabeth Dr. and operator of Ottawa Boat Cruises.

Shipwreck Recovery to Commence in August

Florida-based Swordfish Partners and Deep Blue Exploration have contracted Blue Water Ventures International to recover potentially valuable artifacts and coins from a shipwreck site off the coast of North Carolina the parties believe to be the 1838 sinking of the steam paddle wheeler, Pulaski. Endurance discovered the site of the loss and the shipwreck is currently subject of a Swordfish Partners admiralty claim in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa.

US-based Deep Impact Boats will exhibit over 6 new, custom built boats, at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show. Deep Impact will have a total of 7 boats inside the convention center including:  399 Deep Blue with powerful quad engines and an oversized t-top, a 360 Open in a luxurious Ferrari red with forward sunbed, the new 330LS silver, black and orange the sportiest yacht tender around, a redesigned 330TE, a 399 Open blue and tan, a 360C Copper 100th anniversary Harley Davidson and a 360TE red for the hard core angler.

Deep Blue Marine Purchases Ship

Deep Blue Marine, Inc. announced that the company has purchased a second 88 ton vessel which management plans to relocate to the Caribbean. The ship is the 77-ft sister ship of the Cap'n Tracy. The company will begin retrofit next week to prepare the ship for recovery work. The purchase is made in the effort to keep up with the demands set upon the company as operations expand. www.alldeepblue.com

Technip Gets Callon Deal

Technip said it has won a deepwater pipeline installation contract from Callon Petroleum Company for the Entrada oil field development in the . Technip will be responsible for installation of two 6.5-mile steel flowlines in a water depth of 1,364 m (4,475 ft) connected to two subsea wells, plus pipeline end terminations and inline structures and steel catenary risers which will be hooked up to the Magnolia production platform, at a depth of 1,452 m (4,675 ft), reports said. Technip will  provide engineering and procurement for the offshore project, which will use its Deep Blue installation vessel in the third quarter this year.

Winding its way through downtown Austin, Texas, is scenic Lady Bird Lake, a gas-restricted reservoir of the Colorado River. Lone Star Riverboat Cruises guides visitors through the picturesque surroundings in Lone Star, a 75-foot double-decked paddlewheel, powered by twin Torqeedo 40-horsepower Deep Blue outboards. Capt. Mike Pearce began Lone Star Riverboat Cruises with a diesel-powered paddleboat and an exemption to operate a fueled vessel on the lake. When the boat became too old to use, Pearce went all-electric. As his business grew, so did his fleet.

MSRC Completes Gulf of Mexico Expansion

The Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) announced that it has completed its Gulf of Mexico expansion program, known as Deep Blue. The new response capabilities created under this program are now ready to respond to an oil spill incident, if and when necessary. The key objectives of this expansion program include increasing the effectiveness of mechanical recovery through expanding the number of dedicated oil spill response and recovery platforms in the Gulf of Mexico; increasing the ability to utilize commercial Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) and Multi-Purpose Support Vessels (MPSVs) to reinforce MSRC’s existing dedicated platforms…

Coflexip Unit Wins Pipeline Contract In GOM

Coflexip Stena Offshore Inc. was awarded by Williams Energy Services a large EPCI contract for the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of two 18-in. export pipelines, totalling 160 miles from the Devils Tower field development, located in 5,700 ft water depth in Block 773 of the Gulf of Mexico, to shallow water tie-in locations at the shelf edge. The contract work scope comprises project management, engineering, procurement and installation of two export pipelines consisting of 160 miles of 18-in. pipeline, 12 miles of 14-in. pipeline and two 14-in. steel catenary risers (SCR). GOM Deepwater Operator Joins MPA

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation has signed agreements with the Marine Preservation Association (MPA) and the Marine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC) to access MSRC’s national and Gulf of Mexico-based dedicated spill response resources for plan citation and spill response services. Anadarko joins other MPA founding members BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Murphy, and Shell; and newer members Nexen, Noble, and Statoil, in funding the most extensive surface spill response capability in the Gulf of Mexico. MSRC has just completed a large expansion of its resources and capability in the Gulf of Mexico, with particular focus on the deepwater.

Johnson Controls' Batteries to Power All-Electric Boat Motors

Johnson Controls, Inc. to produce Li-ion battery packs from its Holland, Mich. plant for Torqeedo's all-electric boat motors. Torqeedo, a German-based manufacturer, will use Johnson Controls' Li-ion automotive battery packs to power its award-winning 80-Horsepower electric boat motor called DEEP BLUE. "With our leading battery expertise, we helped our customer combine two distinct technologies – the large outboard engine and electric motor -- making the Torqeedo DEEP BLUE system a real game-changer," said Holger Jetses, vice president and general manager for Johnson Controls Power Solutions' Original Equipment group, EMEA. Technip Awarded GofM Subsea Contract

Technip wins a lump sum contract for development of subsea infrastructure for the Cardamom field located in the Gulf of Mexico, Garden Banks block 427. The field is at a water depth of approximately 830 meters, and the project consists of a subsea tie-back to the Auger tension leg platform, wholly owned by Shell Offshore Inc. The contract covers the project management, engineering, fabrication and installation of the East and West Loop 12.8 kilometer pipe-in-pipe flowlines with associated PLETs and steel catenary risers. Technip's operating center in Houston, Texas will perform the overall project management. The flowlines and risers will be welded at Technip’s spoolbase in Mobile, Alabama.

Technip Awarded Contract from Bluewater Industries

Technip has been awarded a contract by Bluewater Industries, Inc. for the flowlines, risers, jumpers and subsea structures for the Mirage field development, in the Gulf of Mexico. This field is located in Mississippi Canyon Block 941, at a water depth of 4,050 feet. ATP Oil & Gas Corporation (NASDAQ: ATPG) is 100% owner and operator of Mirage and Bluewater Industries is managing the project. The contract covers engineering for the installation, welding and installation of two steel catenary risers and two oil and gas export flowlines (31 and 52km long), fabrication and installation of subsea structures and jumpers, and pre-commissioning. Technip's operations and engineering center in Houston (Texas) will execute this contract.

Technip Awarded Subsea Contract for the Gulf of Mexico

Technip was awarded a lump sum contract by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for the development of  the Lucius field, located in the Keathley Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico, at a water depth of approximately 7,000 feet (2,130 meters). The contract covers installation of a flexible flow line, multiple flexible gas lift jumpers; main gas lift and infield umbilicals; subsea distribution units; electrical, fiber optic and hydraulic flying leads; • design and fabrication of the flexible flowline end termination; fabrication and installation of rigid jumpers; • burial of flow lines; • flooding and hydro-testing of the flowline system. Technip's operating center in Houston, Texas, will perform the overall project management.
