DNV GL Approves IBM’s Maximo Software for Maritime and Offshore Sectors

Quality assurance and certification firm DNV GL granted type approval for IBM’s Maximo Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software, a tool that helps ship owners maintain their vessels in accordance with international regulations.The certification process for Maximo version 7.x was overseen by Manchester-based maritime and offshore specialist IT firm SRO Solutions, part of the Cohesive Companies."Shipowners are legally required to implement a Planned Maintenance System (PMS) to ensure their vessels are operated and maintained in accordance with class and manufacturer requirements.

ABS Group Signs on Elba LNG Project

ABSG Consulting Inc., a subsidiary of ABS Group of Companies, Inc. (ABS Group), has been contracted by Kinder Morgan, Inc. to develop a Maintenance and Integrity Program for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal at Elba Island (Elba LNG Project) near Savannah, Georgia. ABS Group will develop the maintenance and integrity programs for the base plant, balance of plant and the terminal upgrade. ABS Nautical Systems Signs Wins OSV Fleet Contract

Oceanografia S.A. de C.V., one of Mexico’s largest offshore vessel operators specializing in underwater survey, diving, pipe laying construction and maintenance operations, has signed a contract with ABS Nautical Systems to implement the NS5 Enterprise asset management software across its entire fleet of multi-purpose offshore support vessels. Six of the vessels are ABS-classed newbuilds and will utilize the Maintenance & Repair and Drawings Management modules as part of the ABS Newbuild Program, resulting in savings for software licenses, database development and consulting services of nearly $100,000. In addition, the company will also install the Purchasing & Inventory and Crew Management modules.

ClassNK, IHIMU, DU, and IBM Japan to Develop Software

ClassNK, IHI Marine United (IHIMU), Diesel United (DU) and IBM Japan have announced they will jointly develop a ship maintenance management system to help reduce ship lifecycle cost. Automation technology group ABB has advanced its position as a leading supplier of enterprise asset management (EAM) software, according to newly released findings from ARC Advisory Group, a research and advisory firm. EAM solutions facilitate the management of an organization’s physical assets over their entire lifecycle, from design and production, through commissioning, operations and maintenance, to decommissioning and recycling. Managing these aspects on a company-wide basis reduces downtime, optimizes investment and maintenance costs and extends the operational life of installations, thereby enhancing operational performance and minimizing total cost of ownership. SYS Technologies Receives Navy Contract
