Furuno Releases New Digital Network Fish Finder

In 2006, Furuno laid the groundwork for new sounders with the introduction of their FCV620 and FCV585 digital fish finders. These units featured FDF (Furuno Digital Filter) Technology. FDF is the latest in digital signal processing technology that delivers noise-free underwater images. In less than a year, Furuno's FDF technology was so well received that it won the National Marine Electronics Associations 2006 Best Fish Finder award for the FCV585. Now, Furuno is bringing this same FDF technology to their NavNet system with the new DFF1 Digital Fish Finder module.

Over the past 43 years, Furuno has received the honor of being the most recognized company in the marine electronics field by the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA). This year, Furuno won four more NMEA awards at the prestigious 2014 NMEA Convention in Sanibel, FL, bringing Furuno’s NMEA Award all-time total to an amazing 212 wins. For the ninth consecutive year, Furuno received the highly coveted Manufacturer of the Year - Support award. Furuno continues to be the sole recipient of this award, since its introduction on the ballot in 2005.

Furuno, manufacturer of marine electronics, was honored with five awards at the 2009 National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) Convention in Sanibel, Fla. This year’s event, held Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, celebrated the 38th anniversary of the NMEA awards. This year, 10 NMEA Awards were presented and half were received by Furuno. For the fourth straight year, Furuno received the award for Manufacturer of the Year - Support. Furuno has secured this award every year the category has been included on the ballot. Furuno took top honors in the Best Radar Category for the thirty-fourth consecutive year with the NavNet 3D DRS Ultra Hi-Definition Radar Series. JRC Announces New Program

JRC North America, the Seattle-based branch of Japan Radio Co., Ltd., has announced an aggressive new program to gain an increased share of the marine electronics market in the U.S. and Canada. Ray Carter, national sales manager, said JRC will pursue greater sales in electronics for the pleasurecraft, megayacht, commercial fishing and workboat markets. The company has already stated prices will not raise prices on its products in 2999 The company offers radards from compact 16-mile units for small boats to 120-mile systems and sophisticated ARPA for high seas use. The line includes LCD and CRT instruments with six to 28 in. screens, some in color.

Lowrance, a world-leading brand in fishing electronics since 1957— announced today its exclusive partnership with Skeeter Performance Fishing Boats. Eufala Police Launch Rescue Boat

The Eufala Police Department, in Alabama, recently unveiled a well-equipped boat for the purpose of search and rescue. The boat was presented to the department by the Alabama Marine Police. After some restoration and a new coat of marine paint, the boat only lacked a few essential items - primarily electronic equipment. Police Lieutenant Todd Register then contacted Techsonic Industries, and asked for a donation of a depth finder for the new rig. The company not only considered the request, but took it a step further. According to Techsonic President Charlie Stott, the company saw an opportunity to create perhaps the finest equipped search and rescue boat in the country. Techsonic first installed an NS-25, a sonar/GPS combination unit, which employs state-of-the-art C-Map cartography.

Nobeltec Releases New Service Pack

Nobeltec announces new hardware integration and software functionality with the service pack release of Admiral 11.1 and VNS 11.1. VNS and Admiral are designed for safe and accurate navigation on recreational boats, commercial vessels, and mega yachts. This newest service pack adds value to Nobeltec navigation systems. One of the most significant updates to the marine navigational software is the ability to integrate with the Furuno Digital Fish Finder (DFF1) Sounder. NMEA Awards Top Electronic Makers

Marine electronics experts named 11 products in nine categories as winners of the 2014 NMEA Product Awards. Once again, Furuno USA was named Manufacturer of the Year--Support. The winners were announced at the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) International Marine Electronics Conference & Expo, held October 8-11 at the Sanibel Harbour Marriott in Fort Myers, Florida. Category winners are chosen by regional panels of NMEA members from around the country, hand picked by the NMEA Awards Committee for their extensive knowledge of marine electronics to create a level playing field for all product and manufacturer support nominations. "We want to congratulate all of the award recipients," said NMEA Managing Director Mark Reedenauer.

Skipper: New Support Tools for Acoustic Products

Skipper released the new support tool for all technicians serving acoustic products. The Skipper ETT985 is a combined echo sounder simulator, transducer tester and NMEA tester, in a single handheld unit. This tool allows the technician to test both the acoustical functions of the Echo Sounder and Transducers. The ETT985 has a built-in rechargeable battery. The simulator will measure the transmitted pulse and replying with either the same pulse or a user defined pulse. In conjunction with the systems data bulletin an integrity test of the Echo Sounder unit can be performed in minutes.

Furuno Debuts Remote Controller and Software

When Furuno added its Black Box system to their NavNet TZtouch family, it provided flexibility for captains that wanted a TZtouch system on larger displays. Shortly after that, Furuno introduced its new line of Multi-touch Marine Monitors that ranged in size from 17-24 inches. Customers then came back to Furuno requesting the added flexibility of viewing and controlling their TZtouch displays from a remote position. While Furuno offers its free “NavNet Remote” app for the iPad, some customers feel there is no substitute for buttons and tactile control.

Furuno introduced its new 1835/19x5 Color LCD Radar series. According to Furuno, demand has been rising for a stand-alone Radar series of similar size and power, paired with a brighter, high resolution, color LCD display. Even though Multi-Function products offer this type of display, there is still a large contingent of vessel operators that desire the simplicity and dedicated functionality of a stand-alone Radar. A new 10.4" color LCD display is found in this latest series of Radars. Furuno’s “True View” is a new display mode based on the head-up mode with a smoothing effect added.
