Boskalis Completes Horizon Acquisition

Dutch dredging and heavylift company Royal Boskalis Westminster has acquired the remaining 37.5% in the United Arab Emirates’s Horizon Group, a company specializing in the provision of marine geophysical surveys and geotechnical services.Earlier this year, Boskalis already acquired 62.5% of the shares. Fugro Returns to China for Gas Hydrate Research

Dutch survey and geotechnical services firm Fugro said it has been awarded a contract by China’s Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey (GMGS) to perform gas hydrate investigation on the Northern Continental Slope of the South China Sea. The contract is valued at approximately $40 million and is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2018. The gas hydrate field research program is the fifth that Fugro will undertake for GMGS, and the two companies have worked together in this field of research since 2007.

Boskalis Acquires Subsea Survey Firm Gardline

Netherlands based Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. said it has acquired all shares of the U.K. based Gardline Group, a firm specializing in marine geophysical surveys, offshore geotechnical services and environmental surveys. The consideration paid including assumed debt amounts to approximately £40 million ($51.4 million). Gardline was established in 1969 and was a second-generation family-owned business with principal offices in Great Yarmouth, U.K. with further activities in the U.S., Brazil and Singapore.

Herman Senior Orders Damen Workboat

The Dutch family-owned tug and workboat company Herman Senior BV has ordered its 12th Damen vessel, a Multi Cat 2712. Given the very short delivery time, the new vessel will be officially launched and christened Panda on March 23. Herman Senior has a tradition of naming its ships after famous bears. Based in Dordrecht, Herman Senior serves the dredging market, offshore wind farms and the oil and gas industry, with services including towage, plough dredging, anchor handling, geotechnical services, diving support and salvage and anchor recovery, among others.

GLDD Sells Terra Contracting Assets

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation, the largest provider of dredging services in the U.S. and a major provider of remediation and geotechnical services, announced the completion of the sale of assets associated with the service lines of the Terra Contracting Services, LLC business for $6.1 million in cash.    GLDD Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Berger, commented, “This sale marks an important step in executing the company’s strategy of focusing on the environmental and iInfrastructure segment’s core strengths and divesting of nonstrategic services. I am pleased that we have successfully completed this transaction, and I am optimistic that we are well-positioned for the future success of this segment.”

Mexico Offshore Geotechnical Contract for Fugro

Netherlands-based Fugro has been awarded a contract of around US$ 90-million by Mexico’s national oil company PEMEX for ultra deep water geotechnical and pilot hole (drilling and logging) services associated with the de-risking of drilling locations and field developments planned offshore Mexico. Gardline Geosciences & Canyon Offshore strategic alliance to provide deep-water seabed drilling service to offshore SI market. Eric Zon, Managing Director of Gardline Geosciences stated ‘this agreement is a perfect synergy to enable Gardline to offer full geotechnical services in the deep water market and to add enhanced operational performance in extreme shallow water-environments.  The technology strengthens Gardline Geosciences and its sister company Asian Geos capabilities, who have an existing fleet of 7 heave compensated drill vessels and 18 seabed CPT units. British boat manufacturer Ribcraft will officially hand over the second in a batch of specially built 6.8M RIBS to overwater Marine Drilling Contractor Fugro Seacore at Seawork 2012. Fugro Gulf Selects ABS NS SafeNet Fleet Management Software

Fugro Gulf Inc., a leader in the provision of offshore geotechnical services, has contracted with ABS Nautical Systems for seven modules from their suite of advanced SafeNet fleet management system software. Fugro Gulf's contracted ship management company, New Offshore Inc., Morgan City, LA, will use the modules and manage vessel operational activities on behalf of Fugro Gulf Inc. Fugro Gulf Inc. has contracted for the Maintenance & Repair, Purchasing & Inventory Control, Replication Manager & Financial Reporting, ISM/STCW Compliance and Document Management modules of ABS NS SafeNet.
