When I ask to see the contract, often times I see errors in drafting that either (1) give rise to the problem before me or (2) could create a bigger problem for the client in the future.The risk of drafting error is higher for Europeans looking to contract with American companies.

IRClass Lends Support to Maritime India Summit

IRClass Acquires Geological and Metallurgical Laboratories

HSL May Hand Over Bulk Carrier to Navy

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) may sell its bulk carrier under construction at the yard to the Indian Navy, reports the Hindu. Goodearth Maritime Limited (GML) has failed to settle its dues for nearly a year after placing the order under Diamond Series of 53,000 DWT bulk carriers. GML has defaulted in payment of nearly Rs.20 crore. Despite several reminders, they have not cleared the dues. The bulk carrier, on which HSL has completed 70 per cent of the work, is lying idle at the outfitting jetty blocking the space for undertaking other activities. HSL is now exploring the possibility of selling the bulk carrier the Navy, by involving GML. The latter has also evinced keen interest. HSL completed the delivery of four bulk carriers of 30,000 DWT under Trader Series in 2009 for GML.

Quality hat-trick for GAC Marine Logistics

(GML) has secured ISO certifications in recognition of its Quality Management, Environmental Management and Occupational Health & Safety Systems. Global ship spares logistics specialist GAC Marine Logistics (GML) has opened a new office in Chennai, India to house a dedicated customer service team. The India Customer Service desk is led by Customer Service Manager Rajshree Kurup who has over fifteen years experience in the time-sensitive specialist field of ship spares logistics. The team works closely with other offices in the GML network located in Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Greece, Rotterdam and Sao Paolo to ensure seamless delivery service.

GAC Marine Completes Propeller Installation

Global ship spares logistics specialist GAC Marine Logistics (GML) has successfully completed a complex ships spares movement involving a 7.5-metre diameter, 28-ton propeller from Kobe, Japan, and 9-metre long, 13-ton shaft from Busan, South Korea, for Greece-based ship operator Atlantic Bulk Carriers Management (ABC). GML was entrusted with the entire operation, from receiving the propeller and shaft from the suppliers’ doors at their separate points of origin, through to fitting the shaft to the propeller before placing them in long-term storage at its dedicated warehouse in Singapore.

The GAC Marine Logistics (GML) team has expanded with three new positions, based in Dubai and Singapore, created to meet the needs of a growing business which has jumped five-fold since operations began in June 2003. Mr Tony Gennadopoulus has been named Regional Sales Manager based in GML’s global headquarters in Dubai.
