The State of Delaware will join the private operator of the Port of Wilmington, Enstructure, to build a new port terminal at a site in Edgemoor, Delaware. The Edgemoor industrial site was purchased in 2017 by the taxpayer-owned Diamond State Port Corporation (DSPC) which subsequently secured the necessary permits to construct a new port terminal.This $635 million infrastructure project will be largest shipping terminal in Delaware since the current Port of Wilmington opened in 1923.

Liebherr has produced and delivered its largest port handling machine, for DaFeng Port in the Chinese province of Jiangsu. The LH 150 ET Gantry Port Litronic is the largest, electrically-operated Liebherr port handling machine with gantry undercarriage. The entire port handling machine has been supplied by Liebherr: All components were developed, produced and tested by Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger GmbH in Kirchdorf an der Iller, Germany; from the attachments to the work equipment, the hydraulic cab elevation and upper carriage.

The Maritime Singapore Green Initiative (MSGI), which was due to expire at the end of the year, will also be extended by five years, said Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) chief executive Quah Ley Hoon."As a key maritime nation, Singapore is committed to promoting environmental sustainability of the industry. The Baltic Sea port, Port of Riga is now offering regular port services for liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered container vessels to reduce the environmental impact of its operations and boost its container throughput."By officially welcoming the new container ship Containerships Polar, the Port has started regular port services to LNG-powered container vessels," said a press note from the Latvia’s major port said.It is planned that the first two 100% LNG-powered vessels Containerships Polar and Containerships Nord owned by the CMA CGM group container line will arrive at the Port of Riga three times per week, and it is expected that a third LNG vessel will join them in the autumn.

The Port of Long Beach and six other international seaports recognized for advancing innovative environmental initiatives are combining forces to launch the "World Ports Climate Action Program."Long Beach will join port authorities in Los Angeles; Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Hamburg, Germany; Barcelona, Spain; Antwerp, Belgium; and Vancouver, Canada in developing projects to address global warming and meet the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement, a United Nations-led effort to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions."This partnership helps to raise awareness about global warming throughout the port industry and ensures that we are working toward the same goals on an international scale," said Mario Cordero, Executive Director of the Port of Long Beach.

Women make up only an estimated two percent of the global maritime industry.
