Liebherr's Largest Port Handling Machine Delivered
Liebherr has produced and delivered its largest port handling machine, for DaFeng Port in the Chinese province of Jiangsu. The LH 150 ET Gantry Port Litronic is the largest, electrically-operated Liebherr port handling machine with gantry undercarriage. The entire port handling machine has been supplied by Liebherr: All components were developed, produced and tested by Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger GmbH in Kirchdorf an der Iller, Germany; from the attachments to the work equipment, the hydraulic cab elevation and upper carriage.
Singapore Extends MSGI Scheme Till 2024

Riga Port Aims Growth with LNG Move
The Baltic Sea port, Port of Riga is now offering regular port services for liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered container vessels to reduce the environmental impact of its operations and boost its container throughput."By officially welcoming the new container ship Containerships Polar, the Port has started regular port services to LNG-powered container vessels," said a press note from the Latviaâs major port said.It is planned that the first two 100% LNG-powered vessels Containerships Polar and Containerships Nord owned by the CMA CGM group container line will arrive at the Port of Riga three times per week, and it is expected that a third LNG vessel will join them in the autumn.

Marine Environment Protection for Southeast Asia Seas Project Launched
Seven ASEAN countries have formally launched an ambitious initiative aimed at improving the environmental health of the seas in the region, through the implementation of key International Maritime Organization (IMO) marine environment protection treaties. Senior decisions makers of maritime administrations of the beneficiary ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam) met for their first high-level regional meeting in Bali, Indonesia (25-27 June), to kick-start the âMarine Environment Protection for Southeast Asia Seas (MEPSEAS) Projectâ. IMO is implementing the project, with funding from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).
Op/Ed: California's Zero-emission Domino Theory
The Domino Theory was the Cold War concept that if communism obtained a foothold in a region â say Vietnam in Southeast Asia â other countries would soon fall like a perfectly aligned row of dominoes to communism (e.g., Cambodia and Laos). Whether one supports the theory or not, it has at least one strong point: it was a simple story to tell. It feels like California has adopted its own version of the Domino Theory: if California pushes the regulatory envelope for zero emissions, other states and countries will certainly adopt similar strategies.

JNPT Records Growth of 5.76% in Container Handling
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), handled 3.9 lakh TEUs in the month of November 2017, while recording a growth of 5.76% in container handling for the period Apr-Nov2017 as compared to same period last year. Of the four terminals at JNPT, JNPCT handled 1.18 lakh TEUs, APM Terminalâs total stood at 1.66 lakh TEUs, DP World (comprising NSICT and NSIGT) together handled 1.06 lakh TEUs in the month of November 2017. The Direct Port Delivery initiative under âEase of Doing Businessâ has been steadily going up and in the month of November, 34.73% of cargo was cleared through DPD, resulting in significant saving in transaction cost and time. Another important initiative namely Inter terminal movements of TTs - was used by 15,267 trucks, completing 19,279 transactions in November.
