Offshore Test of New Installation Technology Successful

The Carbon Trust and Fistuca, in conjunction with industry partners announced the successful completion of the offshore trial of the Fistuca BLUE 25M hammer as part of the Offshore Wind Accelerator BLUE PILOT project.The industry partners include E.ON, EDPR,  EnBW, Equinor, Ørsted, Shell, Sif, SSE, Van Oord, and Vattenfall. The offshore test was carried out on August 13, 2018, using Van Oordā€™s offshore heavy lift installation vessel, Svanen, off the coast of the Netherlands.The BLUE Hammer is an innovative, new hammer utilizing a large water tank to provide a more energetic, but quieter blow for offshore installation. It is designed to reduce underwater noise levels by up to 20 dB (SEL), and is predicted to reduce the fatigue damage during installation on the pile by up to 90 percent.

Dometic Toilet Wins Innovation Award

The new Dometic 7100 Series MasterFlush macerator toilet has won the 2013 IBEX Innovation Award for Mechanical Systems at this yearā€™s International BoatBuildersā€™ Exhibition & Conference (IBEX) in Louisville, Kentucky, U.S. Developed by marine sanitation specialist Dometic Marine, the 7100 Series toilet will be shown at METS from 19th to 21st November for the first time on Stands 01.615 and 01.713 in Hall 1 in Amsterdam RAI. Arabian Sea Contract for Technip Consortium

Technip, in a consortium with Afcons and TH Heavy Engineering, awarded offshore India contract. The contract, worth in total about 50-million Euros, awarded by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC), is for the Heera Redevelopment (HRD) process platform project in the Arabian Sea, approximately 70 km South-West of Mumbai, India. Installation of a new bridge connecting the existing HRC process platform, the strengthening of the existing bridge and the modification on an existing HRC process platform to ensure interconnections between all the process lines and the utilities. Technipā€™s operating center in Mumbai, India will execute the overall engineering and procurement of tagged equipment of the project.

MHI and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Co-develop Japan's First ClassNK Approved Installation Technology for Container-Type Ballast Water Treatment System -- Will Enable Faster BWTS Retrofitting and Deployment. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), working jointly with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), has developed installation technology of a ballast water treatment system (BWTS) enclosed in a standard-size freight container in the hold of container ships. The system using container-type BWTS design is the first to receive the concept approval from Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK)*.

New ClassNK-approved container-type Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) installation technology. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), working jointly with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL), has developed installation technology of a ballast water treatment system (BWTS) enclosed in a standard-size freight container for installation in the hold of container ships. The new technology will significantly reduce BWTS retrofitting turnaround time in comparison to engine-room BWTS installation.
