Jeppesen Commercial Marine announced today that Steve Mariner has joined the company as Head of Commercial Marine Sales, where he will oversee Jeppesen’s global network of sales offices and distributors. Mariner brings related industry experience to his management position, most recently as Business Development Manager for KH Charts and ChartCo. Mariner is an Incorporated Engineer and holds an MBA. Jeppesen, Brazil Forge Marine Data Agreement
Jeppesen and ’s Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation (DHN) have reached an agreement giving Jeppesen access to all of the nautical charts and data published by DHN for ’s sovereign waters. The agreement, signed through Empresa Gerencial de Projetos Navais (EMGEPRON), will allow Jeppesen to use DHN’s high quality nautical charts and data in its industry leading marine navigation products for both commercial and light marine users. With direct access to sovereign data, Jeppesen is able to ensure the highest levels of quality and integrity, thereby increasing the safety of maritime navigation. The agreement also makes possible new chart and data coverage areas for Brazilian waters.
Jeppesen Partners with FarSounder
Jeppesen and FarSounder announced a joint promotion for the FarSounder-500 and FarSounder-1000 sonar systems. FarSounder's software uses Jeppesen charts as part of their 3D forward looking sonar's chart overlay feature. The chart overlay is produced by correlating the sonar's data to a geo-spatial position and displaying information from the sonar data on top of Jeppesen's digital charts. Jeppesen will provide a three month trial of the latest Jeppesen charts for key regions of the customers' travel areas. Jeppesen Wins IHMS Contract in Singapore
Jeppesen has been awarded a contract to develop and implement an Integrated Hydrographic Management System (IHMS) for the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore, a governmental agency established to develop Singapore as a premier global hub port and international maritime center, as well as to advance and safeguard Singapore’s strategic maritime interests. The contract is for two years, with an optional three-year extension. The Jeppesen IHMS will provide multiple functionalities, including bathymetric data handling, management and storage integrated with Jeppesen’s dKart Source Management system and dKart Office tools for ENC and paper chart production and maintenance.
Digital Marine Acquires Jeppesen's Marine Division
Digital Marine Solutions announced today it has signed a purchase agreement to acquire the marine division of Jeppesen, subject to regulatory approval. Under the terms of the agreement, the former Jeppesen Marine will operate as a separate entity with its own dedicated resources and will trade under the C-MAP brand name. Jeppesen will remain as part of The Boeing Company. Digital Marine Solutions is owned by the Altor 2003 Fund, which is part of the Nordic based Altor family of private equity funds. This strategic acquisition leverages Altor’s experience in the Marine industry, where it also is the majority owner of the Navico house of marine brands.

Jeppesen say that their new FlatFee licensing for its official Electronic Navigation Charts (ENCs) makes accessing and using them easy, cost effective and planning friendly. Jeppesen FlatFee lets mariners purchase some or all of nine worldwide zones at an affordable fixed price. Once purchased, vessels are able to view and use all charts, for both voyage planning and navigation, without limitations for a subscription term of one year. This helps mariners improve safety and ENC handling, while simplifying Port State Controls and ensuring predictable charting costs. Jeppesen Update VVOS & FleetManager Software
Jeppesen has launched updated versions of its Voyage and Vessel Optimization Solution (VVOS) and FleetManager software. The functionalities added to Jeppesen’s VVOS Version 2.3 and Jeppesen FleetManager Version 1.4 are a direct result, say the company, of listening closely to and working hand-in-hand with its customers. Jeppesen has enhanced its VVOS Version 2.3 voyage optimization product by incorporating Emission Control Area (ECA) boundaries, and adding restricted RPM zones.

Boeing to Acquire C-Map
The Boeing Company reached an agreement to acquire C-Map, a leading provider of digital maritime cartography, data services and other navigational information. C-Map will become a part of Jeppesen's marine division. Jeppesen is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services. "We are excited about adding C-Map to Jeppesen's existing portfolio of marine information solutions," said Lou Mancini, vice president and general manager of Commercial Aviation Services. Jeppesen Launches Trial and ROI Analysis Program

CHS Agreements with Jeppesen Marine
Jeppesen Marine signed two license agreements with the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) in May. The first is a CHS Value-Added Reseller (VAR) agreement authorizing Jeppesen Marine to integrate CHS products and updates into its own value-added products for the marine industry. Jeppesen Marine announced that Adams Offshore has installed its Jeppesen Primar ECDIS Service on one of its dive support and offshore supply vessels, and is considering implementation of the solution across its fleet worldwide. BP Contract Jeppesen Voyage Planning
Jeppesen optimization solutions to be used aboard BP's LNG, Product & Crude Oil vessels to increase efficiency, reduce risks & save fuel. The contract will result in the installation of Jeppesen’s Vessel and Voyage Optimization Solution (VVOS) on 52 BP vessels carrying crude oil and LNG shipments globally. The contract also provides for integration of Jeppesen’s FleetManager shoreside component into BP Shipping operations. FleetManager will be used to track BP’s owned and chartered vessels. Malaysia & S.Korea Waters: Jeppesen Extends ENC Coverage
Jeppesen is now distributing official Electronic Navigation Charts (ENCs) with local partners in Malaysia and Korea. Jeppesen will distribute Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) ENCs for Malaysia from Jeppesen’s local partner Okenos. Included in this newly available ENC coverage is the Strait of Malacca, one of the most important commercial waterways in the world. As the main channel between the Indian and Pacific Oceans, the Strait of Malacca links the major Asian economies of India, China, Japan and South Korea. It is estimated that 25 percent of all oil transported by sea passes through the Strait of Malacca, notable for its shallow waters, narrow passages and heavy shipping traffic.
