MAN Expects Sales Boost from Chinese Emissions Regs

Engine manufacturer MAN Energy Solutions said it expects to  see increased sales from the imminent China’s Stage II—commonly known as the C2-emission standard (GB15097 regulation)—due to enter into force in July 2021. Jan De Nul Launches Low Emission Vessel

Jan De Nul Group launched its fourth Ultra-Low Emission vessel last week in Singapore. It concerns the 6,000 m³ Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger Sanderus built at the Keppel Offshore & Marine shipyard.This green vessel is the first of two identical medium-sized hopper dredgers under construction at Keppel O&M’s shipyard in Singapore, fitted with a two-stage filtering technique for exhaust gases.In total, Jan De Nul Group designed six Ultra-Low Emission vessels (ULEvs) for its fleet: five Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers and one Offshore Jack-Up Installation Vessel, the Voltaire.

MAN Propulsion for 7 Russian Factory Trawlers

MAN Energy Solutions said it has won the contract to supply propulsion systems for seven new 109-meter factory trawlers for the Russian Fishery Company (RFC).The series’ lead vessel will be built by Tersan shipyard in Yalova, Turkey for scheduled delivery in July 2020. Jan De Nul’s Green Hopper Dredger Launched in China

The 3,500 m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Diogo Cão was launched last Saturday at the Keppel Nantong shipyard in China, a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine. The green vessel is the second of three 3,500 m³ hoppers to be launched, equipped with an exhaust gas treatment system filtering out and virtually eliminating many pollutants from the exhaust gases. MSC Jade Sails with MAN's Biggest Engine

The largest and most powerful engine from MAN Diesel & Turbo’s portfolio ever designed and built has entered service. Built by Doosan Engine in Korea and rated at 75,570 kW (103,000 horsepower), the engine is an MAN B&W 11G95ME-C9.5 two-stroke type that acts as prime mover aboard the MSC Jade. The 19,437-teu container vessel is operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the global container shipping company. Daewoo Shipbuilding (DSME) delivered the newbuilding on 20 May, which subsequently sailed the short tour to Busan. The MSC Jade also features 4 × MAN L32/40 auxiliary engines (2 × 8L32/40 + 2 × 9L32/40 units), each with a single MAN NR34/S turbocharger. Doosan Engine reported the main engine’s initial start during October 2015 and a successful shop-test subsequently followed.

First B.Delta68 SUL Bulker Ordered

Deltamarin reported that its B.Delta family has scored further success as the Vulica Shipping Co. Ltd ordered the first ever B.Delta68 SUL (Self-Unloading) vessels. The order for the two bulk carriers was placed with the Chinese Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. Deltamarin’s design contract with Hantong shipyard covers approval design (basic and detail), procurement handling and site assistance. The contract value is about €3 millioin, and the estimated contract period is 10 months. Delivery of the vessels is planned to take place before July 2017. According to the designer, the B.Delta68 SUL is a Panamax sized self-unloading bulk carrier featuring a state of the art, fuel efficient and environmental friendly design.

COSCO Orders Deltamarin B.Deltas

Marking another order for Deltamarin’s B.Delta37, the first Chinese shipowner COSCO has ordered four 40,000 DWT Handymax bulk carriers at Tianjin Xingang shipyard in China. In addition to the latest COSCO order, 16 B.Delta37 vessels had previously been ordered at the Tianjin Xingang shipyard, with eight vessels for Louis Dreyfus Armateurs and another eight for M.T. Maritime Management Group (MTMM) / Strategic Shipping Inc. (SSI). The main dimensions of the vessels for COSCO are: length below 180 m and beam 30 m. The service speed at design draught is 14.0 knots.

Deltamarin announced that so far a total of 103 B.Deltas and derivates have been ordered by several world-known shipowners at nine Chinese shipyards. The latest addition is the order of eight open hatch B.Delta37 bulk carriers by Polish shipowner, Polska Zegluga Morska P.P. (Polsteam), at Yangfan Group shipyard. B.Delta Bulk Carrier Delivered to China Navigation

Deltamarin and Lloyd’s Register announced that on October 18 China Navigation Company (CNCo) took delivery of MV Wuchang, first of the 39,000 dwt B.Delta37 bulk carriers of Deltamarin design built under Lloyd’s Register’s approval and survey at Chengxi Shipyard in China. Deltamarin’s B.Delta37 design has attracted significant attention in the industry due to the best in class (handysize segment) performance in terms of a range of parameters such as low fuel oil consumption, low emissions, EEDI, deadweight intake and lightweight particulars.

(MES) completed and delivered a 56,000 dwt type bulk carrier MV Devon Bay (MES Hull No. 1843) at its Tamano Works on July 1, 2013 to “K” Line Bulk Shipping (U.K.) Ltd. This vessel is a handy-max type bulk carrier of 56,000 dwt with a large cargo hold capacity over 70,000 m3 and marks the 158th ship of its series. This 56,000 dwt type bulk carrier series of MES is widely called Mitsui’s 56 and is highly appreciated in the market, the company said. Ulstein Delivers PSV Designs to Kuma

Kuma Shipping has ordered two ships of the new P128 design, a design developed to serve the general PSV market related to work-over barges and jack-up rigs. “This is a design that combines low fuel oil consumption with high carrying capacity at an attractive price,” said Ove Dimmen, area sales manager in Ulstein Design and Solutions. Dimmen and his team developed the Ulstein P128 with input from Kuma Shipping. The Hong Kong-based company ordered the basic design from Ulstein, and the vessels will be constructed at a Chinese shipyard with sufficient experience.

MAN L27/38 for Heavy-Duty Offshore Propulsion

Dubai-based Grandweld Shipyards has been appointed to build two Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels for undisclosed offshore operators. The AHTS newbuildings, will each be powered by two 8 cylinder MAN L27/38 main engines delivering a total of 2 x 2,720 kW in a standard twin screw propulsion layout for the drive of two ducted cp propellers. The calculated bollard pull is 90 ton. The engines for the 1st and 2nd vessel will be shipped from Denmark 2012 in the weeks 18 and 22 respectively. The L27/38 medium-speed propulsion engine is a popular workhorse for heavy-duty applications like e.g. offshore supply and service vessels, anchor handlers, tugs and workboats.

SOLASOLV Supplies Stolt Significant Ship

Chemical tanker Stolt Island, one of a series of six sister vessels, has been selected as a Significant Ship of 2009 by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects. She was delivered to her owners with 18 SOLASAFE anti glare roller screens at her navigation bridge windows. When in use the screens will reject the glare, heat and uv light from the sun. The benefits of the screens’ infra red rejecting properties are three fold; creating a more comfortable working environment, reducing air conditioning running costs and reducing Green House Gas emissions.
