Hornblower Names Peakes EVP and CFO

Hornblower Group announced Monday that Adam C. Peakes has joined the company as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Noble Corp. Shareholder to Vote Against Maersk Drilling Merger

Following the announcement of a proposed merger between offshore drillers Maersk Drilling and Noble Corporation on Wednesday, a Noble shareholder said it would vote against the deal.The combination is a primarily all-stock transaction where the shares of the combined company will be distributed equally between the current shareholders of Noble and Maersk Drilling.The transaction is planned to be implemented through an English incorporated holding company, which will make a voluntary tender exchange offer to the shareholders of Maersk Drilling. The tender exchange offer will allow Maersk Drilling’s shareholders to exchange each Maersk Drilling share for 1.6137 shares in the new holding company.The two drillers said that the proposed transaction completion was targeted to close in mid-2022…

Noble Corp. Sends Force Majeure Notice to Shell over Drillship Damaged in Storm

Offshore drilling contractor Noble Corporation has sent a force majeure notice to its client Shell over the Noble Globetrotter II drillship contract after the rig was damaged earlier this week in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico in severe weather during Hurricane Ida. The 2013-built ultra-deepwater drillship has a contract with Shell lasting until early September 2023 at a flexible day rate of at least $275,000.U.S. Coast Guard said Wednesday that the drillship, located 80 nautical miles south, southeast of Grand Isle, La., in the Gulf of Mexico, had sustained damage and that a plan was being developed to bring the vessel into port for repairs.Around 140 crew members were on board when the storm hit, Reuters reported earlier this week, citing USCG petty officer Carlos Galarza said.Noble Corp.

Noble Drillship Damaged by Hurricane Ida

The U.S. Coast Guard said on Wednesday it is responding to a drillship that reportedly sustained damage as Hurricane Ida ripped through the Gulf of Mexico and into Louisiana as a Category 4 storm.The agency said it was notified during the storm that the ultra-deepwater drillship Noble Globetrotter II had been damaged, and that it had been in touch with both the vessel's master and owner Noble Corporation since Sunday to gauge the extent of any damage and to ensure readiness of onboard lifesaving equipment.The Liberian-flagged drillship and its 100-plus crew are currently located 80 nautical miles south, southeast of Grand Isle, La. The vessel's U.S. licensed master has maintained that the drillship was not in distress and is not actively taking on water, according to the Coast Guard.

Noble Buys New Jack-up from PaxOcean

London-based offshore drilling contractor Noble Corporation has bought a second newbuild Gusto MSC CJ46 design jack-up rig from the Singapore shipyard PaxOcean Group for $83.75 million. Like the Noble Johnny Whitstine, which the UK offshore driller purchased in September 2018 in connection with a Saudi Aramco contract, the newbuild CJ46 design jackup, to be named the Noble Joe Knight, was built at the PaxOcean Graha shipyard in Batam, Indonesia.The rig is built for operations in moderate drilling environments and is capable of operating in water depths of up to 375 feet, with well depths of 30,000 feet. Noble Corporation Buys Gusto MSC CJ46 Design Jackup Rig

Noble Corporation has announced the purchase of a new Gusto MSC CJ46 design jackup rig from the PaxOcean Group (PaxOcean) in connection with a concurrently awarded drilling contract.Noble paid $33.75 million of the $93.75 million purchase price in cash, with the remainder of the purchase price, or $60 million seller-financed at a 4.25% interest rate paid in cash and 1.25% paid in kind over the term of the financing.The Company used existing cash balances for the initial payment and the secured seller-financed amount is to be repaid in four years. The Company also has an option for the purchase of a second newbuild CJ46 jackup from PaxOcean.The newbuild jackup, to be named the Noble Johnny Whitstine, was built at the PaxOcean Graha shipyard in Batam, Indonesia.

Noble Drillship Bags New Contract

Noble Corporation has been awarded new contracts for one of its drillships under which the unit will operate in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and later Suriname. The 2013-built drillship Noble Bob Douglas has been awarded a contract with Murphy Oil, which will last from early to late July. The rig’s dayrate has not been disclosed. After completion of the project, the ship will start a contract with Tullow Oil offshore Suriname from early October 2017 to early November 2017 again at an undisclosed rate. Tullow is planning to drill the high-impact Araku prospect, a large structural trap containing a potential more than 500 MMbo. Meanwhile, Shell has taken an early termination option on the Noble Hans Deul, which has been working for Shell in the UK North Sea since August 2016.

With recent type approval of an 81-meter-high evacuation system, VIKING has answered the needs of offshore fixed and jack-up rigs to handle extreme heights. Leading maritime safety equipment and servicing manufacturer VIKING Life-Saving Equipment A/S has received type approval from Lloyd’s Register for its new offshore evacuation chute system, certified to operate at an unprecedented evacuation height of 81 meters to sea level. “The system’s certified evacuation capacity is 146 people in just 10 minutes, comfortably beating the threshold required by maritime authorities, even from such an extreme height,” says Kristian Ellertsen, Norway-based Offshore Technical Manager for the company.

Noble Pleads Guilty to Enviro Charges Surrounding Kulluk

Petrobras rig evacuated after tilting, now stabilized

An offshore drilling platform, operated for Brazilian state-run oil company Petrobras , was partially evacuated after tilting on Friday, but there was no risk of it sinking, the company and the local oil workers' union said on Friday. Crew members were evacuated to another rig after the SS-53 platform, located in the Campos oil basin off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, began to list at about 0100 local time (0400 GMT) Friday, a spokeswoman from the Sindipetro-NF oil workers' union said. The platform had been stabilized and safety measures were being taken, said a Petrobras spokeswoman who declined to give further details. The union spokeswoman also said the rig had been stabilized.

Noble Corporation has reported fourth quarter 2013 net income of $174 million, or $0.68 per diluted share. Results for the fourth quarter included an after tax charge of $36 million, or $0.14 per diluted share, relating to an impairment taken on the FPSO Seillean. Excluding the impairment charge, net income for the fourth quarter would have totaled $210 million, or $0.82 per diluted share. For the third quarter of 2013, the Company reported net income of $282 million, or $1.10 per diluted share, which included after tax gains totaling approximately $63 million, or $0.25 per diluted share.

Noble Corporation's Board of Directors has approved changing the place of incorporation of the publicly traded parent of the Noble group of companies from Switzerland to the United Kingdom. The Company's shareholders will be asked to vote to approve the proposed change. If approved by shareholders, Noble expects the change of the place of incorporation to be effective as soon as practicable following the merger of Noble Corporation, the current Swiss parent company, into a newly formed company incorporated under English law.

David Williams Awarded Emery Medal

David Williams, CEO of the Noble Corporation, was honored as the Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s “Salute to the Maritime Person of the Year” at the Petroleum Club in Houston. Fairmount Pair Tows Rig Noble Max Smith to Brazil

Super tugs Fairmount Sherpa and Fairmount Expedition have towed the drilling rig Noble Max Smith from the Gulf to Brazil. Both tugs hooked-up in Pascagoula Mississippi, USA. For this job the Fairmount Sherpa and the Fairmount Expedition were mobilized to the departure location from there previous projects. Fairmount Sherpa had just delivered the rig Atwood Condor in Trinidad after a speedy crossing of the Atlantic and the turbulent waters around the Cape of Good Hope and Fairmount Expedition was successfully involved in the salvage of the ill fated container vessel MSC Flaminia.
